Well a quick test proves that incorrect. Doesn't auto-target Provoke either.
Not sure what the hell it means.
If you're using /tmode B and have it set to "friendly" or "party" only, typing "/dtar on" would allow you to press confirm to target the mob right in front of you? Keeping it set as "/dtar off" would only allow you to target friendly or party targets? That's how I read it, but can't try it cuz I'm fishing -shrugs-
Edit-
Stopped fishing for a sec and that seemed to work. While set to "friendly", pressing confirm would only target myself. Then typing /dtar on let me target the dodo across the pond. That's the only use I can see for it. When you set "friendly" "party" or "enemy" targeting.

Best thread evar...
I can't wait until they put all of this in the configuration menu. This stuff never makes any sense until you try it out, and I really get tired of having to sit there with an online guide and a list of text commands. If you're using /tmode B and have it set to "friendly" or "party" only, typing "/dtar on" would allow you to press confirm to target the mob right in front of you? A /b/razen thread.
I give all of these changes two thumbs up.... into a ceiling fan.

I'm not a stupid person, but this has gone way over my head.
If /dtar only affects Mode B, though, then whatever. I hate Mode B. I think it's ridiculous.
Explain the difference between Mode A & C to me RQ.
Yea, some of it's pretty redundant & useless depending on how you play(Keyboard/Controller) and the target mode you like.
A- Set to All
Up/Down targets party members
Left/Right targets all targets
(With a controller you can Push the Auto-Run button + EmoteList for 'ALL', Main Menu for 'Friendly', Cancel for 'Party', Confirm for 'Enemy')
B-
Up/Down changes target mode(All, Friendly, Party, Enemy)
Left/Right selects targets
C-
Always set to ALL and can't be changed(From what I can tell)
'I think' the reason for it is a lot of people would be going about their business set to target only enemies(for example) and it would change during battle and screw them up. So they can use that /dtar on/off so they're not stuck in a fight momentarily unable to target what they want. So mainly for /tmode B users and controller users who like /tmode A?
And then perhaps /tmode C for people to say "screw it just lemme target everything!"(Without it accidentally changing to "enemy" only mid-battle)
After many edits I'm still not sure if I'm 100% on all of that & now I have a headache = D

So, basically they royally f'upped attracting/keeping anyone from their original target audience (PC MMO players of popular outside franchises) and are now making a 'host of sweeping changes' targeting the more niche console MMO market (FFXI players that don't own a PC).
Grounds for the best game ever? Or simply "Save Our Shit"?
I use a keyboard almost exclusively. I didn't even realize Mode A could change from All. It would be kinda cool if there were key commands to change it(?) not sure if I would but I guess I'll just stick to Mode A, Direct Target Off (aka "why did you bother" aka normal mode) and call it a day.Yea, some of it's pretty redundant & useless depending on how you play(Keyboard/Controller) and the target mode you like.

I appreciate you trying to figure out what changed, though. Haha. Sorry for the headache.
Edit: I "liked" your post, but not the headache part - just so we're clear.
