Ugh, why can't people look at the materia slots in the bazaar?!

We've got a jerk or 2 on our server that likes to sell relic precursors already slotted with 2 materia. The problem is they use rank 1 materia in order to trick people into overpaying for them. Then they list it at a deep discount to entice people to buy (pretty much at cost for selling the base mats and materia separately)

Now, even though it's their own fault for not looking, I feel bad for those duped into buying that crap (and people do occaisionally buy). But what really annoys me is there's some new dumb $#@! seller that can't be bothered to look either. So when selling his own precursors, properly slotted with rank 3 materia for the quest, he undercuts the bad one! (obvious it's an intentional undercut because it's priced at 2gil less).

    stupid people

Yeah - there is plenty of silly people using the boards - for me the two most annoying thing are people selling at 99 stocks of everything and - even worse - at suggested "NPC buy" price - aparently not doing price checks at all. I think SE should either NOT preset the prices at all there or set the NPC sell price (for items available at NPC) or some more realistic overall sale prices. And of course if you see morons like that you can always purchase the "cheap" / undercut (good) item and resell it at the "correct" price - even with the losses on taxes you should be still in profit plus you'll promote your own items at the right price ...

If some shmuck doesn't do his homework and puts an item to market that is worth 6X what he's asking, buy it and repost it for 6X what he asked. Remember that if you have the market space you can make big bank just playing the market.

I remember seeing rubber for sale on the market at 50gil a piece whilst an NPC vendor right next to the market board sells them for 13gil... as long as there are suckers to buy stuff like that people will continue to try their luck. They aren't so much an issue though as it's as much the buyer's fault for not checking.

The real issue comes from the people selling things waaaaay underpriced by using the default sell value and not checking the past sales. These tend to cause rather large price crashes in certain markets and make the economy incredibly volatile. I really think SE needs to take measures to stabilise prices... even in the real world our 'free' markets have safeguards in place to prevent massive spikes or crashes.

I'll sometimes buy overpriced items that I know are sold from a vendor because I'm too lazy to go find who has it or to go teleport to another city.

Wait. I am 90% sure when you hover over an item it shows you what materia is on it. I use the hover screen to compare HQ vs. NQ and make the decision on whether HQ is worth the price increase. Materia is on that page too. >.> Just look.

it shows you wich materia are on the item. the reason people buy them(at least the lvl 55 gear) is because you re spiritbond gain is about 15% faster per materia slotted regardless of level or effect. if you are buying the gear just to convert it then this saves you the trouble of finding a crafter at the same price.

No, they're specifically slotted with materia so it looks very similar to the precursor + materia that's required for the quest turn in. If DRG requires champion lance + 2 savage aim III, they'll list it with champion lance + 2 savage aim I or savage aim II. They're priced too high to simply be for SB purposes, and if they were for SB purposes it would all be slotted with R1 elemental materia. They *ARE* attempting to dupe buyers who don't look too closely. It's deceptive and should be a confiscate item+warn->temp ban level offense.

Anyhow, my complaint was for SELLERS who also don't look too closely and then put a properly slotted relic quest item up priced to undercut the false ones. Sometimes they just get bought out and everything returns to normal. But sometimes others will then undercut them and they'll disrupt the market for the next week and you have to wait for everything to go back to normal. Now, just to avoid confusion, I don't want to ban those sellers just because they're stupid. I was just ranting because their stupidity was affecting the markets

And that's all it was, a rant
