I'm not so concerned with seeing the appearance beforehand, but there should be a comparison window so we're able to compare stats when buying gear. It's very clunky to have to open your inventory, check stats, memorise them, then compare them to the item you want to buy. There should just be a "currently equipped" window which shows the gear you have equipped in the same slot. Wonder if this is coming in the future? It's probably in the "quality of life" thread that I've ignored...

You could always just open your Character tab and put it next to whatever tab has the gear you're looking at.

Pretty sure this doesn't work. I.e. opening the character tab will close whatever preview you have open at the vendor, and vice versa.

The +/- system for defensive stats works well. Should be pretty simple to do it for other stats too.

Sorry i'm derailing the thread a bit. Isn't there some sort of model viewer out there that would accomplish what the OP is after? I know it's not in game, but this might suit the purpose in the short term.

This. You can compare attack and defence, but the game doesn't check secondary stats, such as gathering/perception/control, etc.
