Player housing So very disappointed

I'm not usually a fan of housing in MMOs, always seems a bit of a waste, but Yoshi mentioned there'll be mannequins that you can put in your house and display gear on. I'm somewhat addicted to collecting gear, and the idea of being able to have multiple mannequins to display it all is worth getting a house for me. The fact that personal housing is still at least half a year away is also nice, since then I'll have plenty time to actually get the gil for it (and maybe level some crafts so I can make my own mannequins and what not )

Could I ask where you saw that? I don't remember reading anything about having to be in a FC for personal housing.

uhm.. in the dev thing they posted a few days ago but I only read the german version so like I said it might have just been a mistranslation :P

Oh okay. Was it the Q&A? I read through the entire thing, and I don't think it says anything about having to be in a FC for personal housing. player houseing is said to come out 6month once the 2.1 is release it could come later or sooner just have to wait and see. Also if the only reason you paying a game is to have a house then i think you playing the wrong game HAHAHA YOU LOSER.

As a person who is interested in culture-clashes I think this thread demonstrates something fascinating about Western Individualism v. Eastern Social/Groupism. This game is developed in Japan and has an equally large, if not larger, Japanese gamer base. The American dream of owning your own land and your own home within your lifetime within any line of work is a pretty new phenomenon.

Consider the fact that we're immigrants to Eorzea, adventurers from another land, without respectable careers, peddling our wares on markets and killing monsters. We're not landed elite. We're not an established mercantile class. Guess who were the first to get a shot at owning property during feudal city-state times? Merchant's Guilds and Sworn Lords and their corresponding Knights. Guess what they collected? Dues and Taxes. Guess who stayed peasants living in shacks or on the land they worked. Everyone else that wasn't military nobility or mercantile.

You get your inn as quarters due to your membership in the adventurer's guild. You need GC alliance to even be qualified for the right to own land, like any feudal system. Those who invested in their "dull" crafting and gathering professions have lined pockets, whilst adventurers have shiny armor that amounts to plenty on the field, but little on the markets.

This is a realistic portrayal of what it is like to be a second class citizen of an unstable nation. I apologize on behalf of SE that Final Fantasy XIV has made you face those realities. You must choose your battles, you cannot have it all immediately, you are not entitled to it all immediately. Be wise, be diligent, and be realistic. This is the reward the hardcore players wanted. Something to show for their above and beyond efforts.

This is an MMORPG. A simulation of what it would be like to live in a fantasy society. Individuals have seldom accomplished much without teamwork, or standing on the shoulders of giants. Welcome to Eorzea.

Apparently editing people quotes is keeping you occupied for now. Luckily there should be plenty of quotes to alter in the future.

That is a good question. As it stands, I suppose there would just be an empty house in the neighborhood. Would probably just stay there until someone contacted support, and a GM verified that ALL FC members are inactive. Then maybe they'd do something about it. I guess we'll find out. I doubt SE would do anything as long as there were active members though.

A monthly/weekly fee would be annoying. But it would keep the number of instances down, and would be automated requiring less GM involvement. Maybe they expect everything to even out when individual housing is introduced. It's their game, I suppose they can do what makes sense to them.

Thanks for the clarification though. I read through the QA but forgot about that part when they mentioned no fees.

I think housing price is bad news specially for crafters. It is really difficult to sell anything at good prices these days. To me it seems people are trying to save money for housing. The only way to make good money these days is by either selling items you buy using tomes or by selling materia. I am really very woried if I will ever own a house ><.

This game is becoming a souce of stress to me ><.

If you are getting stressed over this, then you really need more problems in your life because it is absurd to get stressed over such a trivial, non-essential part of the game.

Besides that, you're wrong. This is the best news for crafters, because it means they're finally important for something other than materia. Every crafter should be happy about this, not stressed.

i repeat myself: it's not yesterday news. If you had the idea personal housing would come first, you where wrong on your end.
As many other stated in the rest of the topic, like it or not, there are a lot of good reasons to not have personal housing before for the time being. Duty finder crashes the first week, and server congestion until last week should mean something i think.
Personal housing it's not canceled, it's still coming. If you think the game is still too young, don't resub and wait until you are better full of things.

Yeah because I'm not fancy in fighting 50 different difficulties of Primal's till then.
People may think it's a waste but the social aspect and just the lil side things can come a long way.
Have folk visit your home and such and just chill and relax away from retard RMT's. All crafts have a play in it too I think...Just disappointing.
