But I think most of it comes from repetition, these zones are huge so you're hearing one song constantly. I agree with someone's option, add some day and night tracks or when it's nighttime don't have any music playing. That would help in the short term.

Now as for a future composer, they definitely should get Sakimoto Hitoshi over Mizuta. I don't think I could survive another folk music, woodwind based soundtrack again.
I'd support a Sakimoto/Uematsu collaboration for the first expansion pack, unless that would make things sound too mixed up. Either way, Uematsu still has lots of great tracks done recently (Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon) and the battle themes in this game are great, as are the town themes. Its just like most posters have said, repetition, and the fact that you don't hear a large majority of the music unless you are in a cutscene or mission specific area.

Reading this i just had the thought, in-game podcast.

I love the final fantasy 14 music however final fantasy 7 is still the most amazing soundtrack out of the whole series at least for me.

I agree, I love this battle track.

Overall, I do really like the soundtrack of XIV. It's got some excellent pieces in it. My only comments would be regarding more ambience as well. Music doesn't have to be playing all the time... I'd quite like to sit listening to nothing but the sound of the waves crashing now and again

    Where is the dislike button..

Seriously, Mizuta is a good composer and some ff11 tracks are very nice but he is still far from Uematsu, as composition and innovation imo. I really like the FF14 music so far but also a future collaboration between Mizuta and Uematsu would be sweet.

Its way to poppy and rocky for me for a CGI would work but for a game I wouldnt want to hear it over and over and over and over and over

I always have the music turned off. Dreary, anodyne and supremely irritating. It does indeed sound rushed and frankly rather tacky. A horrible mess.

The song ansers like most of the composers work ties in with the game in some form. Like Answers is what we here from the hidden voice. It will tie in on what we need to do. Like ffxi's memoria de S^tona was abount vanadiel. EyEs on me told the story of ff8. Where One wing angel told the story of sephiroth and cloud very well.
I love the music in ffxiv. And enjoy listening to it. If you think it is utter crap then maybe you should look into your taste in music (or lack of) Sorry but to insult a guy because you have a different taste in music is really uncalled for.

Just give us (x4/x5 per different zone in 1 location) more music. It's so boring... 90% ppl shut it down, or give us randomly music for every location. FFXIV not a single player (line story), we play always in some place with 2 type of music, and switch it on only in Coertas\Mor'Dhona.

I think half people's problems is everyone stays in uldah, which at least for me has the worst music in the game....

Outside uldah and its surrounding zones I think the music is much better composed in terms of fitting the area.

I don't think the music is technically bad, I think the usage is incorrect. It's like watching some sort of medieval war movies and when a battle commences they have techno playing instead of war-drums and trumpets.
