Fun fact: the best rotation costs 314 cp. You have waste not 2, byregot, careful 2, steady hand 2, right? Should be piece of cake then

Easy: if they fail, they will try again, no worse than that ^^

They advertize guarantee selling because they've stockpiled the gear after having hacked it. They are RMT and selling "fake" gear.

I used to have this issue until I switched out Hasty Touch for Basic Touch. With SHII, basic touch is a 100% chance and same stats as hasty, but minus the rng. Using this method requires quite a hefty amount of CP (I use CP food now exclusively, topping off at 388 on my Weaver) but its serious piece of mind when I can use 6-7 basic touches, Ingenuity, Great Strides, then Byregots and 1 shot any recipe I choose, even 2 star items. Now you still have to worry about purple orbs but most of the time, I 1 shot any synth on my Weaver and 1 star/below on my other crafts using this method. Eliminating the RNG just helps out SO much in my opinion, and it more then justifies the costs of materia/HQ gear. Also, assuming HQ items/CP food, I can use this method on lower level crafts as well. I made 30 HQ Steel Plates earlier using basic touch rather then hasty touch. I have changed all my crafts thus far and havent ever looked back.

You don't need stupid crazy melds to do it..

For iLvl 70 gear (such as Vanya etc) it does help a lot to have the craftmanship just in gear & melds (347) and simply eat control food like Dagger soup.
(You could do it the other way round if you wish but eh)..

This is what I do and I would say it's pretty much guaranteed:

    - I only pop Tricks of the Trade when you don't have either Waste Not II or Steady Hand II active. (Otherwise push for quality)
    - Work on progress during Normal or Poor orbs, and Quality during red or prismatic orbs.

Inner Quiet > Steady Hand II > Waste Not II > Rapid Synth or Careful Synth II (depending on the synth) on normal orbs / Hasty Touch on Red or Prismatic orbs.
Once you are 1x Careful Synth II from completion (Usually after 1x Rapid or a couple of Carefuls), spam Hasty Touch. Refresh Steady Hand II when it wears (burning 1 step of Waste Not II)
If red orb pops after Waste Not II wears, use tricks, otherwise just use Manipulation (on 70 or 80 dura synths) or Master's Mend I (on 40 dura synths). Keep Steady Hand II up.
Use Hasty a few times until you have 15-20 durability.
If a red or prismatic happens to pop, just use an unstacked Byregrots.
If not, and you have the CP for it - then use Great Strides (Can Observe a couple of times for good/prismatic orb if you have CP) > Byregrots to seal the deal.
Finish off the synth with Careful II

Finally, if a Prismatic orb happens to pop really early in the synth, then use Advanced Touch (or similar).

And in the case those rather expensive materials are lost as a result, they replace them?

I've got all crafts 50 and I can guarantee any synth in the game HQ from NQ mats. It's easy.

People talk about "guaranteed hq", but for 2 star crafts I don't believe anyone can say that it's truly 100% that they will HQ using NQ mats.

Personally I tell people 99%, as there is always a very small chance that all of your % based touches fail.

speak for yourself. I have yet to not 100% something.

and maybe it's just me, but I'm personally not giving out the way I do my crafts. It is similar to others here but slightly different. I'm all about helping people...but I like to keep competition to a minimum. IMO if you craft and can't figure out how to HQ, then tough luck. The less competition the better.

Did I say I could not HQ?

If you use any skills that are not a 100% success rate or that are partially reliant on ToT proc's to finish an item, then there is a small chance of you failing to HQ a 2 star item.

The chance to NQ may be 0.01% or whatever, but it is there.

There is also the small risk of a 90k error.

"Not yet" does not disprove my point.
