Abusing a bug so you cannot be attacked is exploiting, sorry. As to it being punishable, well I doubt they will. They didn't do it for any of the other bugs including the major one where players bugged out turn 5 so yea they more than likely will do nothing other than fix it.

Also bringing up CC and kiting is as being exploits to is funny since if you mess up you could get owned. Standing in a spot where mobs can't even hit you is most certainly not the same.

Is this intended gameplay? No, clearly not.
Is this an exploit? Not really.
Not all unintended gameplay is an exploit.

They said they never intended Paladins to be able to do certain things in Coil (tanking with so many stacks of a certain effect) and are even buffing Warriors to compensate.
This is another example of unintended gameplay that is NOT an exploit. Should they ban these Paladins for tanking with too many stacks? Of course not.

An exploit is using a bug or a hack. Nothing is bugged about standing on that pillar, its working normally as the game is coded.
Yes, SE should fix it asap. No, SE should not punish anyone for doing this. No, I've never done it myself.
But this is game mechanics working normally not a bug and taking advantage of it is not technically an exploit.

A Bug is something not intend to be in the game or working correctly.
A miss up in the terrian is a bug, and player using this to give them an advatage that other player cant use or do is an exploit.
Therefore this is an exploit.

SE's official stance? If it allows you to avoid all damage throughout it's an exploit and should/will be fixed - People did terrain advantages in XI during Abyssea's prime to avoid all damage from certain Iron Giants and that one Bird in Abyssea-Misery Coast - They fixed that terrain exploit so their official stance is they're against it.

Imo, getting somewhere where enemies can't get to isn't an exploit. It's using your environment to your benefit. Why are games against this now days? Personally I think having interesting ways to use the environment makes for interesting game play. And their is clearly no clip blocking on the stairs, it's easy to jump up there "Platforming". And is far easier and much more obvious than the tree in AK Was. You had to know that tree was glitched. The pillar, anyone whos come from a game where you can jump on stuff and climb stuff would have figured that out.

I really wish this game would use the jump ability for something other than "You can jump because you can, it's not used for anything though". How about some fight mecahnics we literally have to jump to avoid, like a ground lazer or something. Or how about some Jumping Puzzles like GW2. How bout instead of blocking that pillar off they fix mobs so they can creep up walls, or fix their pathing so they can run up the stairs and onto the pillar.

there are 2 spots in that area you can use the same method, and no the mobs are not bug, they cant climb up or jump to the spot but they are not bug, the range mobs can still hit you and if you fall down, they ll gang you.

there are a lot of game you can do that kind of stuff and some game put a counter meansure for it. So wait for the reply from GM before jump in any conclusion

It's obviously an unintended bug that is being exploited. I doubt they (SE) sat there and said " hey, let's make an area that is very specific, where you can remain invincible, unlike all the other areas in the game". Anyone using this exploit most certainly knows full well that it's an exploit, and claims of "I didn't think it was an exploit!" isn't going to wash if the banhammer comes.

I doubt they'll ban anyone as it's a small issue. They'll most likely just patch it.

Exploits do not require a third-party hack. Anyone who has played an MMO longer than just getting to level 15 and quitting should know this.
