Except this is a game and there's these things called "Gil sellers" and these other things called "Gil Buyers." to them money is no object and if a FC has even one of these people there's nothing out of reach for them.850K is not bad. Clearly for encouraging wise spending.
I hope they introduce tents though, maybe we nomads can move around and set up anywhere we want if we're indecisive.
As you can compare a game-life to real-life, EVERYTHING is much more expensive(not for the light of hard). Remember what your 'ol folks told you when you were little, "If you want to do what ever the hellz you feel like it, get a job, make your own moneyz and buy your own house! While your under my roof, you do what I say." XD
I highly doubt this will drive gil selling. The prices are REALLY not that high for free company housing. having 850k on one's lonesome is not an insurmountable task, and if you solicit donations from your members (it is for the company after all, not for yourself) the cost per person is very reasonable even for a pretty small company. naturally med/large buildings will cost more, but if your company is "medium" or "large" in size, again, the cost per person is not going to be unreasonable.

two-words: "Background-check" ;D
(yes, we've reached a new low, sigh)
~'\[[_LEGACY_]]/'~TENTs because solo-friendly content forces me to want one!

just food for thought 850k isnt even confirmed it was just the jpn cost on the live stream price still unknown but what has been said is the land is going to be in auction so sadly i think the 850k even if its true land cost is going to hit the 100s of millions if at auctionI highly doubt this will drive gil selling. says the same in the German live letter recap (that it will be 6 months after 2.1)
I'm really only bummed by the fact that you need to be in a FC and I'm a little concerned about what happens if one choses to change their FC because how it sounds like right now it would mean giving up the house. not that I don't expect myself to still be a 'lonesome cowgirl' summer next year, but yeh...
I think they should implement a mortgage system in 2.2.

At no point did Yoshi-P state a price for housing. What we are looking at is an arbitrary figure used for testing purposes. Yoshi-P has stated in the past that the status of the game economy will dictate the price of housing so do not expect a decision til just prior to the patch and do not expect an announcement til after the patch goes live. The only thing he did confirm was the fact that prices would be the same on all worlds.

That is true, and a really good point. We're looking at developer test footage. Not finalized pricing. At no point did Yoshi-P state a price for housing. That's not too bad of a price. By the time personal hosing is released I should have enough for a M sized house. I also have to agree getting the house should not be super easy. About 800k for the S sized house is reasonable to me.
