    They use to have that? Why the hell did they get rid of it? I mean, crafters are lumped with feeling partly useless as it is (even though we love crafting) and Square went outta their way to make it a pain for us? :<

    not really. But regular mob used to drop shards in old version and I think crystals & clusters too. Now your only options is to gather it, or kill elemental mobs (I think there's no elemental mob in old version aside closed intance battles).

    I love starting crafting with nearly 15,000 shards and crystals, 1.0 was interesting....

    You could do the level 1, 5, 10 and 15 quests for each crafting job. They each provide 150-200 shards used mainly for that job. After you do all of them I'd expect to have 800+ or each shard.

    This will also unlock the level 15 abilities that you can use across each crafting job. Some of of them are pretty powerful like - lv 15 alchemy ability, weaver, carpenter, even the culinary one is great with steady hand 2.

    Steady Hand II is lvl 37. Hasty Touch is lvl 15 but it's quite an important DoH skill regardless.

    this isn't bad advice by any means. The 1, 5 and 10 quests will give you a solid shard count to start but 35-50 is in the thousands and you are looking at many hours pounding on nodes in a mindless grind. Although to be honest, if you plan to complete the luminary quests for gathering you will need to pound the nodes anyway.

    lol.... the 1, 5, 10 and 15 huh? Yeah, and if you continue leveling all of your classes together, then you'll find at around level 25 you'll first need to get more lightning. Others will likely follow a bit after. ^.^;

    I was speaking more so for a huge amount of easy shards.

    You'll have to farm or buy a lot lot of you're going to want each one to 50 but doing the 1-15 quests will get you easy quick shards.

    Haven't done it myself since I'm only paying for 1 character slot per world, but has anyone tested how long it would take to level a fresh character to 10 and unlocking all the crafting professions in one city? If you did it in the city with the most crafting classes I'm sure that yields a lot of shards, not sure if it's viable or if SE frowns upon it given the 8 creations per 24 hours limitation added to help combat RMT. Of course, you'd need a willing friend to hold the shards while you switch character.
