Didn't care to much for the last event, But the Pumpkin Heads are pretty awesome.

I find the current event underwhelming as well. The pumpkin heads are from 1.0, so new stuff includes the decor, the ghost piece (with 2 faces) and a short quest line. In total, I got 1 hour of enjoyment out of it (including waiting for the quest to unlock). Even the 1.0 event was better than that (with the imps asking you questions etc)
I had hoped for something which lasts longer. Modifications to the overworld, not just the cities, and / or incentives to leave the cities to do stuff somewhere else. But I consider this a minor event, and am hoping for the starlight event to be of a greater scale.
I love the FF world and lore, and I've got a community set up here so I'm kinda dedicated to XIV for now, but I'm not gonna lie... this is really starting to feel like a dated, under-funded MMO from the mid 2000's. With every passing day I start move a little farther from the "SE is gonna make this work!" camp into the "I just don't think SE gives a damn..." camp. I've seen more post-production effort put into F2P games like RO2 than I have in XIV. SE has planted a incredibly beautiful garden, but they're failing to water, weed, fertilize, and prune it.
Hmm...............

Could we get like a pet? Like a floating skull or pumpkin? Maybe a staff/item that gives us 10 free teleports?
I have to agree with Artemis here, totally phoned in.
That is all fine and dandy, just wish the reward was worth it. I found the last event much more entertaining.I don't know, I think plenty of effort was put into the quest, the writing was everything I've come to expect from a Square game. Yeah, maybe another quest would have been nice, but as has been said the team is busy working on patch content and the first expansion so we can't expect grand sweeping storylines just yet. I wasn't underwhelmed at all, honestly, and look forward to repeating it on my main character.
The costumes, to me, were a nice consolation prize for having enjoyed a pleasant and well written event. The real prize was the experience (not the points, those were pretty lacklustre and what I've come to expect from all the quests).
since its Halloween and the game uses instance dungeons they could create 3 test of courage level 1 dungeons for players to either solo or party through with ghosts and goblins and witches to defeat on the way to the big boss we need to beat or some such thing. maybe an escort npc through it type of run or any number of possibilities.
the difficulty needs to be reasonably high while not being too hard and still fun to do with funny consumable rewards.
Kudos to the people who, despite being underwhelmed, posted suggestions for improvements and ideas for next year. I like the idea of low dungeons filled with creatures to run through - just a little difficult - with neat little things like a minion at the end. The questions from 1.0 would be a grand return too, or maybe a little scavenger hunt for novelty items.
It's all well and good to be underwhelmed. I am as well with these events. I LOVE the items, even with most of them being rehashed from 1.0. Items are the things I look forward to, even if they're silly little things like pumpkin heads. I come from FFXI too, and knowing their events and comparing them whether I mean to or not, well, I can see how people can be disappointed.
The best thing we can do is be constructive in our feedback. Not only by telling them exactly what we don't like and why, but also by suggesting what we might like to see. Sure, they may or may not listen, we don't know, but at least we made an effort.
