Since when any of those PvP promotion video ever being realistic? WoW's version is relatively stupid (the plagueland one). Tera's battleground one is pretty stupid too.

The server lag is not as big an issue as people claim for PvP since players do not have access to instant kill AE abilities that leaves a telegraphed area on the ground. Player's damage is mostly single targeted, and AEs are centered around a player and has no telegraph marker either. Player abilities are nowhere as devastating as mob telegraphed attacks, and plus they're much harder to avoid at all (quite a few are instant) so the lag should not be a significant issue. But having a class (Bard) that can do full ranged DPS while running is asking for a disaster to happen. I can't even imagine how PvP can be balanced with a class that can move and do full DPS from range at the same time.

I'm sorry for SE but I agree with you, I laughed at the video: PvP and I didn't see ANY movement, it looked like fighting against a dummy, quite sad.I'm not into pvp and almost in all mmorpgs I try it for a very short time and mostly ignore it afterwards.
But seeing "pvp" video in ARR makes me so sad it's almost funny, is that all SE has to show off? I mean this is a promo video and it looks hmm dissapointing.. you can't tell me anyone into pvp actually finds that video exciting or promising?
I think this is a good hint, they are not going to fix the delay issues, and that is the reason pvp will be like presented in the video, standing in spot and attacking each other.
much skill
so intense
wow

Doesn't need to be realistic, it just needs to get you pumped.

And even though it wasn't an MMO it was pure pvp and IMO had by far the best cinematic

"Make no mistake, war is coming. In all its glory and all its horror" FUCK YEA! makes you want to smash someone's face in. Showing actual gameplay is always underwhelming. You gotta play to your strong suits and FF has always been known for incredible cinematics.
Methinks they would do well to make one for pvp.
If they launch PvP with the god awful mage targeting system, it will dive bomb.
Honestly that video looks good. This is FINAL FANTASY if you expected pvp like WoW then you're looking in the wrong place. Just because something is slower paced does not always mean it's worse. For all I care, we could be locked in position standing in a line facing eachother 4 v 4 watching the timer for our next move. THIS IS FINAL FANTASY.
The fact they're adding any kind of PvP at all is a courtesy to all the players who want something else to HAVE FUN with. It is NOT intended to be "hard-core" or something that is going to pull people away from games like CoD or LoL.

Let me save you hard core pvpers some time. Pve games that add PvP will never have any meaningful PvP. Start looking elsewhere now and save yourself from future disappointment
Ok so for everyone saying the pvpers should go find a new game i mean do you actually see what you are saying
There are thousands of players in ff14 that want pvp good pvp
I don't care if this is final fantasie yes we all know that already it says it when you log in
It's still a mmorpg that people want to see good competive pvp in
Yoshi himself is very interseted in pvp so i like many many others are hoping for the best with leaderboards gear ranking systems ect ect competive pvp
Deal with it pvp is part of the mmorpg games a big part if you don't like it or what ever don't bother putting in your 2 cents
