I'm back to SCH now they fix the pet control lock-in, the class is actually enjoyable. Spell spamming issue can be remedied somewhat by hardware macro. I'm not playing the class by shielding or whatever high level skill some SCHs are touting - its simplified form of shielding-heal from my WoW disc pri days - but its healing pet aspect =)

WHMs are out number SCH by a large margin, so you are always guaranteed to find a WHM, not the otherway round.

SCH has gotten so much more fun and skill intensive since they patched being able to give your pet commands while casting. No joke, one run of AK I casted physick twice, succor twice, all the way up to the demon wall, Selene did all the healing, the only time I needed to heal was on the first boss, which is when I casted those 4 spells.....I sat in cleric stance doing damage the entire time.

I strongly recomend getting both relics. The ability to flip flop is nice, and once you are comfortable with both classes you'll find its nice tohave the options. I love scholar, but often for solo healing CM runs I go whm just for the /snooze factor. That said, solo healing CM / Praet as sch is more than doable,a nd you can probs do more dps that way. (Hoyl spam is just so much fun though).

This is _totally_ not the thread I need to be reading. I don't have a single class to 50 yet but have my WHM at 44. I've been loving the WHM and everything has become "second nature" in dungeons (you know, where you no longer think about the mouse/keyboard/actions/etc.).

But now this thread... You make SCH sound so fun! But man, I want a 50 and to start doing endgame sooooooo bad. But I'm not sure I can resist the dark-side. For the temptation is too strong and I'm too weak... NOOOOOOOOO. Let me stay .

I don't think anybody actually hates Scholars, though I will openly admit to being pretty annoyed with Scholar-primary players who want to eat their cake and have the White Mages' pie, too. Healing is already pretty narrow ground to share between two classes as it is. Frankly, from what I can tell (and I have both jobs at 50) White Mages drew the short straw and Scholars are still demanding more. I prefer White Mage for reasons that go well beyond game mechanics and into reasons like aesthetics and tradition. I was a WHM main in FFXI, which was essentially my first (graphical) MMO. I loved Rosa from FFIV (Bows for WHM when, Yoshi?), I love how the AF looks, and I like using light/holy based magic.

It feels like Scholar was created purely to try to balance 8-man parties by making them require two healer slots. They could just as easily give the faerie to WHM, fix Cure III's range and give us a Haste spell (seriously, where the hell is my Haste spell?) and then you'd have one actually good healer job instead of two adequate, but incomplete healers. This would also cure Arcanists of their split-personality disorder.

I initially planned on playing both WHM and SCH so that I could exhibit more flexibility, but unfortunately it looks like the way end game gear acquisition was designed will make that near impossible (bait and switch?). I'm happy for those who enjoy playing SCH more, but WHM is supposed to be the iconic healer.

Are SCH's really that hated? I love partying with them, they bring SO much to the party. As a WAR, I find the best combo for me in 8man is 1 SCH 1 WHM. The shields produce by the scholar(specially when they crit) are amazing.
