There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

This might be a rumor but I read somewhere that Dalamut was planned to be like Sky with its own zones and such for end game in 1.0. I remember always seeing two moons (both were white at the time, the small one didn't turn red until Yoshi P took over) in the sky in early 1.0. But when Yoshi P took over he decided to crash it into the planet instead.

You, my good sir have won the internet! I second your idea.Oh i realize that it will take time. The first patch of the game is releasing content that is basically new iterations of things we already have in the game is why I created the thread. I just hope they have different ideas down the pipeline that will give us diversity. I know it takes time to make content etc., I just hope they don't spend it making more instanced raids over and over and over and over....

I mean it really just makes too much sense.
-Create an open zone(it can have multiple instances of said zone but it is accessible to the whole server).
-Allow it to be alliance/small group party play
-Farm challenging monsters for pop items
-pop items spawn bigger bosses and when spawned are "claimed" by party that spawns them
-let pop items be sellable/traded between players
Release this kind of content in a future patch/make it part of the main scenario to unlock. SE, do this please and you will profit i promise you! Who doesn't want open world end game progression available/doable at ANY TIME OF DAY with no restriction. Seriously, we need to fight for this.
The diversity will come. Perhaps, as a casual player I have no right to comment on the state of endgame, but it seems that a lot of people are expecting too much too quickly. I'm not one to blame any individual or single occurrence for this mode of thought, but these things take time. The game released with a foundation. The foundation had some issues with it but overall it was solid, so they are building and expanding on that foundation until they are confident that it is complete and without flaw. This will likely take a few major patch releases. Once that is done - probably about a year down the road - a new expansion will come out with new areas and mechanics, introducing some much needed diversity.
So while the game is indeed in need of diversity, and some mechanics need work, you just have to ask yourself if the game is worth waiting around for them to get to that point. The dev team is well aware that you can't let an MMO stagnate in the same state perpetually. It will evolve slowly over time until it is no longer sustainable, just like every MMO with a staff on retainer. What else would all of those programmers/designers/artists/musicians/writers do, once all of the major issues have been ironed out, other than come up with new mechanics, zones, and content?
I agree with OP, but it seems there is a big fear to have competition, same reason our hnm's have disappeared. I loved farming sky and sea it dad so much fun, but I fear the "omg people keep killing ther pop item NM's! Fixit!" threads will start. IMO the whole reason sky was so fun was the fact that anything could happen. Instances are just.... Predictable and boring.
Would love to see those things creeping back into FFXIV![]()
I really wonder why most of the stuff that made FFXI great was scrapped.
When the level cap gets raised it would be nice to see real EXP parties be a thing. Not just something you do for fate grinding or soulbinding, but areas where the mobs are so difficult that it requires a party to kill.. I think a lot of the old time FFXI vets would totally love the OPTION to have that kind of leveling return to the game because right now that game is solo friendly that outside of primals/dungeons you rarely NEED a party... more reasons to group need to be added outside of just fate grinding, soulbinding and dungeons.

Well the people that fear that competition needs to ask themselves something. Would you rather have nothing to do the rest of the week because your raid is on its lockout timer or would you rather have an open world zone where you can accomplish something/do things while your raids are on lockout timers? We can have both worlds. We just need to push for it.I agree with OP, but it seems there is a big fear to have competition, same reason our hnm's have disappeared.
