With how things have been handled so far thinking anything but "end of the world" scenario isn't exactly hard to believe. This game is still new and has not gotten half as much attention as it needed to have by now, many of the changes in 2.1 will be for what was once a majority but now a minority because the people who really wanted them will have passed onto the next game because they were tired of waiting. I like a lot of what is in 2.1 but this game cannot survive the wait(if it is 2 more months) with the current content that a majority of players are currently seeing at endgame.

There is no excuse to force people to wait so long at this point. They had a successful launch, now it's time to wake up to the real world where there aren't more than just the hardcore of hardcore fanboys who will follow a game to the grave even if changes are slow. This is not their first mmo and it needs to stop being treated as such when it comes to releasing changes that should have been there at launch, they have had years to see how 11 did and how other mmos did, banking on fanboys to carry the weight does not cut it anymore especially with how much they lost with the first release of the game.

I completely agree that the patch arriving earlier would help maintain the player base and make a lot of people happy (me included, I'm really looking forward to both PvP and player housing!), but it bothers me that you (and many other people across dozens of threads!) act as if content comes out of thin air. It takes time to make, test, debug, and probably a lot more than any of us know seeing as how most of us aren't MMO developers. I think their excuse to make us wait is that they have to create the content, which seems like a good excuse to me. I would much rather they take their time and do it right than release it before its ready, wouldn't you agree?

It would be one thing if they actually were creating content out of thin air, but half of it other than balance fixes was done at launch according to original posts. CT was finished outside of needing to be rebalanced because it was actually harder than coil and they wanted it to be a stepping stone(if they had waited till now to do something they'd see that wasn't the best plan there with coil not requiring a stepping stone), housing was finished but they felt the need to delay it till 2.1(which honestly was for the best with server issues.....if we were actually getting player housing also and not just fc), pvp as far as they have shown according to their latest video has not changed at all since beta.

That's half of this patches content right there, with the other half being extreme modes, king mog(which is a revamp from 1.0), treasure hunting, and a new instance. If these things are requiring the patch to take 3+ months to come out then they have a long way to go in future patches if it takes them that long to come out with what isn't even considered the major selling point of the patch(the first half I listed).

You're probably more than right, most of the content is probably finished and only needs polish/balance. Though what I'm trying to say (and probably failing to say well lol) is that there are always good reasons for delays. The Devs know that content has to be released at a timely rate or their game will fail, so they must have a good reason for their time table--and often these reasons aren't apparent to us because we're not in the business.
