I agree with your point, GC gears inst hard to get at all.
and for primal battles, GC/AK gear is important for not being a dead weight.

But sometimes I do get upset to see how others treating player who has GC gear.

The reason why I started this thread is because,
2 weeks ago, a friend and I was doing monk/whm relic quest, Titan fight, both with AK gear and Ifrit weapon,
my Ls mate said that we are leechers, because our dps/equips is WAY TOO LOW/CRAP.
(well he was the one who keeps dying before the heart, as a healer)

I help my Ls mates with my Paladin a lot, which is currently geared with relic+1 and full darklight set.
but when I did my Paladin relic, i only had AK gear with Ifrit sword, it was an exciting battle, and the moment we won it, we were so happy and cherish the team work.
you cant really see that now (only 2 months after server launched) anymore.

    Exactly,
this is happening a lot on Legacy server, which is really sad for the old player.

I was once in AK as a blm, a PLD came in saw 2 blms then he left without saying a word,

we finish that AK run in 33 mins, 33 mins per run isnt too bad i have to say... sometimes u see people with DL gear and they keep dying end up it takes 1 hr to beat it :/

We wasn't really wrong, you know.
You see, in FFXIV:ARR endgame content as it stands now is either a gear check or a skill check.
The latter can compensate the lack of former, but only to a degree - no matter how skilled you are, if you're unable to survive phase transition on Garuda even with multiple rocks remaining, or don't deal enough damage to destroy Titan's heart, you don't belong there in the first place.
I only hope that minimum item level requirement for dungeons and trials gets introduced soon enough, so that at least undergeared players will be kept out of content they shouldn't be doing yet.

You have experienced the WoW crowd unfortunately.

Not everyone in the game is like it, find a FC or make a LS that shuns these people out. It will make life seem alot better and won't feel like you are sharing the same oxygen with those mouth breathers.

No surprise here, since FFXIV is now a WoW clone. Get used to it.
Also, switching FCs might be a good idea - flower-sniffing squirrel-hugging roleplayer-wannabe casuals and progress-oriented min-maxers don't mix. Both groups play for different reasons and hate each other with a passion.

DPS meters and parsers are not against the rules.

They are not, themselves, a plague on the community.

Like any other tool, DPS meters can be used for right, or for wrong.

It is a legitimate use of them to point out people who have lower DPS than they should have. It is not a crime. To make martyrs of them is ridiculous-- if they are performing poorly, they NEED TO KNOW in order to improve themselves. Maybe their rotation is bad, maybe they don't even have one. Maybe they're using the wrong skills altogether.

Either way, DPS meters have good uses, and you should strongly consider that if your DPS is lower than everyone else's, with equal gear, the issue is probably on your end, and you should be trying to improve that, not try to start a pity party on the forums to try and say DPS meters are bad and should not be used (which is what it sounds like happened).

no offence, but you are not representing SE to say whether we are allow to use DPS meters, especially it is already a third party application :/

Actually, SE has said themselves, several times, that they are not against the rules. In fact they plan to SUPPORT mods in the near future by providing people with the code they need to make mods and integrate them into the game directly.

    So huh yeah, too bad?

I'm not trying to be a jerk here, just saying. SE has said and confirmed several times than using things like DPS meters or graphic enhancers isn't against the rules. They warn that using them could be dangerous for your installation and to be careful what content you put in there, but that's it.

So before saying they're against the rules and shouldn't be allowed, it is YOU who should do their research.

Just because it's a third party application does not make it against the rules. If it were used to cheat or gain unfair advantages, then yes. But all it does is let you review people's performances, which is a useful tool to have.

I don't condone using DPS meters to be elitists, but I also think that they're useful to spot people who aren't very good, and warn them they need to improve. Especially with how Titan and BC 1, 2 and 4 are pretty much all DPS checks, and if you have one DPS pulling 100DPS while your others are pulling 300DPS, something is wrong, and it needs to be addressed.

I actually support the idea of using mods like the DPS meter. There has been at least one or two games, where having certain mods helped amazingly with my progress on my class at the time. It's not to cheat or break the game, it's just a different mechanic for those who aren't fond or content with the mechanics already in the game. Much like how I dislike the tab system in this game. No I don't want to target an enemy far down the map! Having to move my camera to face directly at the ground most of the time, just to try to get a better chance in fast swapping my targets when in a dungeon.
