Or maybe you and the rather glaring minority of players that'd actually bother can save SE the effort and resources and delete your own characters upon death.

That's all well and great, and I'm sure I would to. The point I was trying to make, is
- Why do you think you couldn't use the RMAH in D3 on a hardcore char?
- Why do you think there has never been any hardcore servers in any successful subscription based MMOs? (I say this because there might be in some obscure MMO I don't know about)
And the answer to both those questions, is companies don't want to be liable for crap you invested time into, and potentially money into, and then lost due to whatever reason. It's a legal thing.
They would get hit with lawsuits and GM calls like "Spent 100$ on my sub, played for a year, then lost my character to LAG" and stupid things like that. People in certain parts of the world sue over the most trivial of things, and actually win.
cha-ching, we have a winner
I don't get why people can be against this idea.
It would be a server option not forced upon you.
You don't have to play it!
Let the rest of us that do want to play this game mode have our fun!
So many party poopers these days.

Not really. They could just update their terms and agreement information. That's all well and great, and I'm sure I would to. The point I was trying to make, is

Wait, isn't a lot of content, like the primal trials, designed to kill you over and over until you're lucky/practiced enough to get it perfect?
Has ANYONE ever completed *ALL* the primal content for the FIRST TIME without ever dying ONCE????
Not against the idea but I'm definitely against SE putting remotely any priority into this, over other much more important things.
The point of a perma death server is high level characters are more rare and geared characters are more rare.
Playing perma death by yourself on a server with out perma death is utterly pointless....
lol

Oh really?
Blizzard couldn't do it for D3. And I know how you fanboys love to praise the almighty Blizzard. It's not as simple as that when it comes to the almighty dollar.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the hardcore mechanic. But when people have invested money into a character, the whole dynamic changes.
Love when people realize they don't know what they are talking about and resort to deflective posts like this.

The funny thing is, if SE implemented the complete opposite of this: a carebear easy-mode server that gives you permanent bonus stats upon death, I'd be willing to bet that server would have a much higher population than your suggestion.

Wow relax pothead. I'm not a big Blizzard fan. Don't see what there is to be upset by, odds are it will never happen. More of a fun idea to think about happening.
