I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. And yes, SE is uptight about things that many other games don't go crazy about and still work, even F2P games. All the d/cing, latency issues, errors.. are u saying thats all client?
Latency/Connection is not a client operation, but that does not instantly mean the rest of what is going on is server-side. That is like saying, oh you have an apple tree on your farm? Then every tree on your farm must be an apple tree.I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. A ton of stuff is handled client side, such as combat, skills, positioning, movement, environment, animations, sounds, etc.
Here's the thing SE could have 20 million Gbps throughput and you have the same (yes yes yes I know that doesn't exist before everyone points out the obvious) but if you have some slower links in the path you will have latency issues. The fact we don't know what SE's infrastructure is like we will not know if the latency issues are SE, SE's ISP or a link on the path to SE.I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. People have said tunneling system do help, therefore the problem can't be on SE's end or on the player's end.
All a tunnel does is send your data to another infrastructure where the path can be more controlled across their links rather than the internet allowing the data to go through the links with the highest bandwidth, however over the internet who knows what metric one router is using.
