I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. And yes, SE is uptight about things that many other games don't go crazy about and still work, even F2P games. All the d/cing, latency issues, errors.. are u saying thats all client?
I sort of understand how these things work though. Won't SE see it as someone logging in with a bunch of different IPs, and put a block: e.g. this: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...kidding-Square.
Latency/Connection is not a client operation, but that does not instantly mean the rest of what is going on is server-side. That is like saying, oh you have an apple tree on your farm? Then every tree on your farm must be an apple tree.I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. A ton of stuff is handled client side, such as combat, skills, positioning, movement, environment, animations, sounds, etc.

Procedures were first introduced in FFXI and are still in effextt there.
As others have said, it's just a blanket response. You probably could've asked if you can play ARR with a spatula and you'll get the same reply.
Since a VPN such as WTFast does nothing to alter any data sent or received by SE's servers, or provide one with any type of executable shortcut/advantage,SE will not take any actions against you.The only purpose of said software is to improve connection and lessen packet loss.As others have stated, the rep. most likely skimmed your correspondence, saw the word "program" and automatically gave you a pregenerated response that says," You may not use this".
They might as well ban my entire FC then, all 100+ of us.
I'm sorry but playing all the way from New Zealand is 350-400 ping without Battleping, It's IMPOSSIBLE to dodge AoE, especially Titan. With Battleping we drop from 350 to 180.... I don't see why reducing lag is considered "against the ToS"
The minute they start banning VPN, is the same day I uninstall and never purchase Square products ever again.
I am paying someone to reduce my ping, that's how much I want to play this game....something I shouldn't have to do! WoW's client-to-server was 100x better than FFXIV, but here I am.. paying 14.99 for FFXIV Sub and $5 extra to keep my ping low.
Ban VPN

your call.
Here's the thing SE could have 20 million Gbps throughput and you have the same (yes yes yes I know that doesn't exist before everyone points out the obvious) but if you have some slower links in the path you will have latency issues. The fact we don't know what SE's infrastructure is like we will not know if the latency issues are SE, SE's ISP or a link on the path to SE.I must be misinformed, im not a technical person but FFXIV is the only game i've had technical issues with and from what i've read seems to be servers. People have said tunneling system do help, therefore the problem can't be on SE's end or on the player's end.
All a tunnel does is send your data to another infrastructure where the path can be more controlled across their links rather than the internet allowing the data to go through the links with the highest bandwidth, however over the internet who knows what metric one router is using.
