What? Considering the entirety of the post was "cater to the majority" your example described the absolute opposite. Did you even read the post? And I am a joy to be around. I order my steak medium rare and scotch neat. Like a champion.I'm gonna guess you are an absolute joy to be around IRL also.
By the way, what you are arguing is akin to a chef at a restaurant saying well I know only .5% of my customers like offal, so think its probably wise to serve nothing but offal to make sure that .5% of my customers are happy. I'm sure that restaurant will thrive. Meanwhile the pizza joint across the street, well, they know what people like.
This is the second response that is arguing the opposite point of my post. I said we should cater to the majority. Like the majority of the people in this thread know how to read. Some don't.Oh boo hoo, the world doesn't revolve around you. Who would of thunk it!
News flash! In the end its still a company, and a company's point is to profit... why would you ever even consider catering to the minority when it's essentially a numbers game always in the end.
Sorry snowflake!
I guess its hard to take seriously when you are claiming this game caters to the majority and then referencing how awful that makes life for you. What's the point if not some backhand slap at the game design, marketing and casuals at large?
No. I said the game does not cater to the majority, but it should because it makes life hard for me otherwise. In summation: game is too hard for the majority. Makes life hell for me, and I'm not in that majority because I don't consider the game hard. Got it?
It is any business-savvy company's duty to ensure this ratio is always maintained.

It isn't so much a problem with the difficulty of the endgame, it's the easy of which you get there. If they would only make it harder to level, so that players would HAVE to understand their jobs better, then the overall amount of accomplishment, skill and cohesion of endgame would be a LOT better.
Awwww... Sweetheart. /hugs I know it's tough but hang in there. ^_^ I know that there are days where I've just wanted to bite off some noses. At those times it's good to strap on the ol' fishrod and cast a line. There's a great calmness that comes over you when you're out in the wilds that makes you feel a lot better....
If you think you can't stand another terrible party, then take a break, especially if you've achieved most of what you want in game.
I have mixed feelings about this. If you make the content too easy, then people breeze through it and move onto the next thing. That is the nail in the coffin because then people are no longer playing your game. If you make things too hard, people get frustrated and quit as well.
I differ in that I don't think a game needs WoW-esque subscription numbers to be successful. I would consider FFXI successful, and Ultima Online.. any MMO that is able to be open for years and years on a subscription model is doing something right, even if they don't have 12 million subscribers. Currently, the way the game is setup, it does cater to both (I think). If you don't want to do the "Hardcore" raiding, then you have the option to do easy dungeons and get tomes to get the high end gear at about the same pace a person would if they were raiding (possibly even faster because of the RNG of Coil).
If you're gonna make everything easily obtainable to appease the masses, then you better have a steady stream of new content coming because casuals and hardcore alike will get bored as soon as they've gone through the stuff currently. The cap on mythology isn't so much the problem, as the ways in which to obtain mythology are.
I also think it would be beneficial for a restaurant to have an item on their menu that 20%-30% of their customer's want. Not serve it exclusively, but at least have it up for order for when it's wanted.
