The over use of "slap in the face" on these forums is ridiculous. Every time someone says "slap in the face" an ethereal internet hand should slap you in the face.

OT: Thief is one job I'm excited for, but nearly as much as I am for Sam. Now Sam being released as a Tank would be a slap in the face.

    *ouch*

Firstly: I know exactly what they mean when they say "slap in the face." As you can see I jokingly used it in the same context as the OP in my original post.

What I mean to say is that anyone who compares not getting a class they like in a game off the bat (or any other in game want), to a slap in the face, should be slapped in the face to better help them understand the difference.

    Secondly: LOL

    Scout/thm (glad) > Ninja
    Scout/lancer (marauder)> Thief.

Thief > Melee quick crit damage. Some ranged ability with "Throw", but more focus on the backstabbyness with steal.

Ninja > Still melee crit damage because of the scout portion, but more focus on ichi and ni type spell cast abilities. Ability to tank, possibly through evasion like ffxi? Though, without the requirement to constantly have up utsusemi ichi/ni so you can enjoy the tanking without constantly being required to have up a scroll type spell.

That's what I would do, anyway. Keeps in line with the classes do in prior games, including ffxi.

I want THF, or BST. Obviously BST won't work in this wow-style game now. But FF11, those were the jobs I enjoyed.

You get insulted very easily. There are many classes that are "core". Notably, theres the "giant sword wielding" class.

They're also missing a gun class, which ironically, is more iconic than the bow class, esp bard. I mean bard? Really?

Most people will just kinda push for their own favorite class.

They don't consider it a "huge insult".

when they open up ala migho to players, we will probably see a Ronin Guild that trains Ronins that branch into Ninja and Samurai (since monks are from ala migho, and following the trend of ffxi that draws the connection between the 3 jobs, ala migho could be where these near/far east jobs are based in)

Like many others, I don't think they'd make Thief a [class].
If it goes in, it will most certainly be a [Job].

And as others have pointed out, it will probably be tied to the Pugilist class since they are very similar.

^ This will never happen. Thief will not be a class. It will be a Job. And it will not be anything else. I wish people would catch on to that already instead of making these threads.

Thief has little place in the game meta right now and will constantly be over shadowed by monk in a melee skill speed dps race. Corsair will be a job off of Musketeer.

All in all. I highly doubt we'll see a thief. If we ever do, it won't be soon. Samurai, Ninja, Musketeer are all jobs/classes that have been on a higher demand list. Red Mage too (which would fit a niche we do not currently have, and that is a viable melee and magic hybrid job)

Monk was more of a mixed Job in 1.0 when the elemental fists actually converted your attacks into that element. It consumed MP, scaled with INT, and gave people a reason to shun them from a fight (because it was a certain element they could not exploit) While it was neat, it was fodder to be eaten by the elitists and gave them another reason to stack BLM to everything. All fists of fire is now is a mandatory DMG buff to keep them on par with easier face rolling dps classes like Lolbard.
