I haven't tried plain gear yet, but yes, my AF2 and Darklight pieces were on 1% Spiritbond after a single Amdapor Keep run.
Not that I care. The item tooltips clearly state Darklight and Cleric items are not convertible.![]()

Random question somewhat related, but if you accidentally sold your meteor survival ring to GC, is there any hope of getting it back? It seems like a item they shouldn't of allowed to sell to GC. I got a friend that did that by mistake and didn't know anything about spirit bind until way after the fact.
Because they're ilvl 90 and 70...
I'm still getting a 40% spiritbind per run on ilvl 45-49 items, like it has always been. Nothing has changed in that regard at all.

As said, haven't gotten around to playing with the Paladin yet, who's still 48. By then I'll see if my random pink stuff will spiritbind at the same rate.
Though I always wondered why non-convertible gear would spiritbind anyway...

so basically they made it so you can't run CM/Prae/AK in vanya stuff and then re-sell it before going into coil. This is a good thing.
I sure am glad I took that week and stockpiled materia like a mad man, now I'm going to be rich(er).

This is intended. The first 1% is just to bind it to you.
It's designed to stop people reselling i70 crafted items after they have used them. The items aren't meant to continue spiritbinding beyond 1% until you start fighting higher level monsters in Bahamuts Coil (and soon Crystal Tower).
If SE were to allow people to Spirit Bond item level 70 stuff on any level monster then the materia market really would go to hell!

I think maybe they mean ilvl70-90.... I only got 1% on my +1 which is ok with me lol.

The Higher IL the item, the longer it takes to bind. Think of an item having an EXP pool. You need a level 45+ IL item to get Tier III materia. AF2 is IL90. So if IL 45 has 100,000 exp IL90 has millions. Of course AF2 takes longer to bind.
All items do not bind the same. Go get Amber Rings or w/e if your a tank and you can bind those in 2 to 3 runs for Tier III Materia worth 10 to 200k a piece (pending on server market).
I buy Amber Rings, Amber Neck, Amber Wrist, Amber Earrings, and A celta Helm, and chest all il45+ for less than 40k off the AH for everything and make between 100-400k profit per run.
