Sounds like you paid for 3 months of the game, so you're paying the lowest monthly rate of $12.99 per month. There are 24 hours in a day and let's say there are 30 days in a month. That means there are 720 hours in a month. The amount of money you are paying per hour for this game is $12.99/720 hours = $0.018/hour (ie, 1.8 cents per hour). The current maintenance lasts for 6 hours. If Square Enix were to actually refund you the money that you would have paid for those six hours, they would send you a check for 10.8 cents. Enjoy!

And yes, I would say that to you in real life. Why? Because people such as yourself think your $12.99 is worth more than the next person's. News flash, if anyone should be complaining, I believe it's the EU group. Currency exchange rates have them by the peridots.

The amount of money that 1 hour of access to the game cost is about a penny. If SE were to make a system to refund these pennies it would cost them a fair bit of cash to do resulting in higher cost for them which means more we have to pay for subs. It's honestly a waste of their and our time if they refund it. If the server were to go down for a week or two that would be a different matter but as SE has already shown they are more than happy to compensate people for unplayable periods.

Doing the math I pay about 0.0110972 or 799/72000 for 1 hour. Meaning 1 hour of access to the game really does cost me a penny.

Yes, actually, yes I would. I'm twisted like that. Nice guy and all, but sometimes, it's too much.

The $12.99 monthly fee takes into consideration that most people don't play 24/7, and scheduled and unplanned downtime is also taken into consideration. If they were to guarantee 24/7 uptime, the fee would probably be higher.

Why do people even bring up threads like this? Would you rather have no maintenance at all and see bugs and problems never fixed? And no addition of new content?

What you prob should do is think of it this way. The price you pay right now is already discounting the maintenance down time. So when u look at it like that, you aren't paying for maintenance b/c its already in the price tag.
If they were to not "bill" you for maintenance time then the monthly cost would be $17 instead of $15 and then they would deduct the $2 for maintenance time. Thus, still paying $15. Understand?
