Marauder Tanking (not Warrior) at endgame?

I ran a dungeon as a Marauder with a bunch of cross-class skills, and it honestly felt better than tanking as a Warrior. Now maybe my party was just good, but simple skills like Keen Fury seem to have made a significant difference.

I'm not level 50 yet (level 43, don't care, no rush), hence why I created this thread. Does anyone any thoughts or ideas on using a Marauder tank for endgame content? I'm going to level some caster classes, and see what combos I can come up with. No, I'm not crazy ;P

im not sure, without defiance means no inner beast less health less healing taken less overall stats from soul
imo not viable for endgame

Defiance and everything that comes with it - extra HP, crit/healing bonus, Inner Beast, enmity bonus.

You can't equip AF armour.

You can't equip relic.

It really won't be viable sadly.

I was offsetting Defiance's buff's with other skills, and without the damage debuff from Defiance you can still generate plenty of enmity. But damn, it all comes down to gear again, so much for that idea.

running Marauder + 2 DPS + Healer is very similar to running 3 DPS + Healer.... except that one of the DPS has a (much) higher armor value.
Going back to tank older content to help people on my War, I almost never need to run Defiance... and even up through Amdapor I really don't need it (although at this point I'm starting to even out gear that content)
Titan /Garuda / Ifrit HM... if I'm tanking I have defiance up... although if i'm DPSing titan I wont run it... of I'm off tanking Garuda / stun-assit Ifrit I wont either.

Your best gear will end up being Amdapor (tank +Vit ... or ... Dragoon +Str), and weapon (Craig's Axe)... although that type of gear is over-geared for everything short of Coil right now... and might even be enough to get you in/through Crystal Tower when that's introduced.

with skills and talent, you might be a viable no relic, no af2 tank. you just have to shout like this

"/sh {looking for members} Coil, I'm a talented and skilled MRD tank. I can finish turn 4 without relic with AK armor. I got mad skillz"

The soul crystals also provide additional stats, and you really cannot afford to give them up.
Even if MRD could equip everythig WAR could, WAR would still be better simply because of the Defiance health and healing boosts alone.
Without it, you're very hard pressed to survive anything.
Which is very unfortunate since there are very nice abilities cross skill wise that Warrior would benefit from obtaining.
