Dying the Darklight gear doesn't change the fact that I'm still wearing the ugly-as-hell Darklight Cowl and the tanks are still wearing a tin can. I hate the hooded robes that you can't put the hoods down on. I hate the tin-can armor sets that you can't make the helmet invisible on.
You want to know the real answer to the "everyone looks the same" problem? Vanity Slots. And Square Enix has already said those are coming.

This is also an issue, and yeah, vanity slots will help a lot.Dying the Darklight gear doesn't change the fact that I'm still wearing the ugly-as-hell Darklight Cowl and the tanks are still wearing a tin can. I wouldn't mid it so much if we had vanity slots but, I think all armor should be dyable. Also, why can't we use materia in endgame armor? lol
darklight has too many details to be dyed.
dark metal, gray metal, red details, gray leather, dark gray leather.
from what i noticed, when you dye something, usually it is just one part of the whole piece that changes color.

Completely agree here, would love more liberal usage of dyes.

So pick a color, make that dyeable. Far better than nothing at all.

I'm quite eager to see the vanity system put in place, but Square keeps taking their sweet time with it. Making the currently gear dyeable should only require a few hours effort on their part, so that would at least be a start.Dying the Darklight gear doesn't change the fact that I'm still wearing the ugly-as-hell Darklight Cowl and the tanks are still wearing a tin can. Heck given there are alt colors of AF gear that scream "dyed" worn by the quest NPCs all the gear might already be dyeable, just requiring Square to "enable" them, which would make it take all of 10 minutes development time to add for 2.1.
Personally I hate set bonuses as I think they over-complicate streamlining gear (example: can't wear a superior piece because of some gimmicky vital set bonus effect on one of my moves). And it further encourages cookie-cutter appearance syndrome. But I admit I could be a minority on this one.

Just say NO to vanity slot restrictions:

If you dye one you have to dye them all. Personally I believe that there should be an item (similar to fantasia) available on the mogstation that you can purchase that will allow for one free set dye and that includes af. With a purchase cap of about 3 per month using the crysta in your account. Also include fantasia whlie your at it. SE makes a bit of money and people can dye their stuff. Its a win-win situation.
