To be honest my mentality as Tank is that
"I got a group of people who trust me to protect them I can't let them down"
I know it dumb menttality but that's how i feel when I am tanking that I need to protect the people who are with me.

I'm one of those d-bags. Welcome to our ranks, the dark side is better anyway.
You'll turn into a d-bag too, eventually, if you keep tanking for too long. You'll also learn to hate DPS players. Nice tanks are suppressing their inner self and it'll eventually lead to psychological problems.
A while ago I flipped at some black mage who told me to spam more flash when I tank because healer got aggro in the pack before the last boss of Dzemael Darkhold. I caught the aggroed mob before it even got to the healer and nobody took any damage in the pull besides me. It was a smooth run, around 30mins with no cc. Then this smartass starts to teach me how to do my job. I wonder what he thought would happen? Did he think I would be all smiles and happy thoughts?
DPS players have the ultimate slacker mentality and more often than not, they are the weakest link in any DF group (from tank perspective).

.
If it isnt marked #1, you pull aggro, you tank it. I give one warning the first time.
I'm with you on this one, and even before I started tanking I raged at tanks who couldn't hold aggro, like the ones that ate every mechanic or the ones that pull with provoke instead of a ranged attack and then spam rage of halone by itself, after a while you tend to have little patience
sounds to me like you made something out of nothingA while ago I flipped at some black mage who told me to spam more flash when I tank because healer got aggro in the pack before the last boss of Dzemael Darkhold. a lot of tanks' problems are relevant to not using flash/overpower enough
i mean ill admit that im not a bucket of sunshine myself, but honestly a lot more irritated with tanks as a dps player than dps as a tank player
when im tanking i just notice the dps is really low
when im dpsing, im being cleaved to death and playing duck duck goose with the boss' ass

I don't know, I am actually a very humble tank. I strongly believe that I am more at everyone's service VS the Leader of the party. Sure it may seem the tank is more the leader compared to other classes of a light party, but it is proven without healing the Tank is still just kinda helpless and without DPS , Tanks damage dealing isn't like very high vs a geared DPS.
Idk why other tanks would behave in such a manner.
Every single time I begin a party I always state the same line:
"Any tips for me to tank effectively here would be greatly appreciated :-]"

As a tank and a DPS (never a healer!) I find it is DPS that are the worst. I also notice DPS tend to be the least engaged with their surroundings, probably because of the role of tanks and healers essentially controlling the life of the party - HP values.
Tanks tend to be the better and more commanding leaders, but the DPS are the ones with outrageous expectations.
The reason I became a tank was my experience in world of warcraft and the gearscore crowd (who were often DPS'ers looking for a way to flex their ability to acquire in-game items as an extension of their personal value). I wanted to be able to run people through dungeons who actually still needed the gear that dropped, and tanking it myself was the easiest way to do that. I am seeing some of that in this game and it saddens me that most MMO's seem to cater to that crowd these days.
