Whoever told you that you don't gain anything from having a high level crafting jobs is dead wrong.

It is not as lucrative as it was in 1.0 but you can still make a ton of money. But if you are looking for some quick ways to gain gil without crafting try selling stacks of low level crafting mats that can be purchased from vendors. Things like Rubber, Rock Salt, Mineral Water, etc. They can all be purchased for next to nothing and resold on the wards for 4-5 times what you paid. People know there are vendors that sell them but would rather just pay at little more and get what they need in one place and not have to run around to find them. Its not a huge profit but selling a few stacks a day can earn you 5-10K depending on your servers market.

If you get into crafting, you'll need just about every craft in order to HQ things. Cross-class skills are very important. My rotation uses Inner Quiet, Steady Hand II, Hasty Touch, Tricks of the Trade, Careful Synthesis, Manipulation, and Rumination. I keep the first two buffs up full time and spam Hasty Touch. Whenever my condition is Good, I hit Tricks of the Trade. I use Manipulation when I hit 20 durability (Main reason for this setup is to be able to use manipulation a lot via CP restoration), and Rumination when I hit a point where I need more CP and have no other options, with Careful Synthesis to actually finish the synth.

Now, as far as making money with crafts goes, most things won't make you money. However, you can make money on things that are highly desired by the community. Mostly this will be things used in quests, such as the crafting class quests, crafting leves, or the relic quest. It can also work a a convenience factor, as you can obtain any item you please without having to worry about the market for the most part.

I dunno. I find it so annoying that many people sell items totally undercost, even at a price cheaper than NPC vendors'. Even some HQ ones. sold for 1-10 gil. Yes, there are some that sells well, but one really must study the market to find them. I really wonder why they waste time and slots to sell in the marketboard, they could go straight to any vendor and in many cases make more money.

Well I am actually referring to the items that you purchase from NPCs for anywhere from 1 -8 gil each, and they sell for 20-60 gil each. Doesn't seem like much but if you're selling by the stack it generates a worthwhile amount quick enough. But again, it really depends on your server.

The only reason people pay more for this stuff is for convenience of getting everything they need in one window. They don't want to have to track down an NPC to save a few gil.
