i dont really mind going into the retainer to get stuff, sure it would be faster to let us craft from it. but what i dont like is how you cant even tell how many of those items you have in the bank say if i had 1 "oak log" in my inventory it says 1/99(total:1) i just wish it would tell you have many you had in the bank aswell

How is that "dumbing down" the game? all i wanted was for them to say now many of the said items i had in my retainer if i'm out in the world so i know how many i need to farm. And for your information my retainer's are allready organized but if i dont know how many i have in the bank out side in the world what good is that?

Because "dumbing down" = changing the game in such way that you have to think less and do less interesting decisions. Currently you should compare the value of organizing your retainer vs the gil you would have earned if you spent that time crafting instead.
By removing that step, you dumb down the game.
If you are for some reason unable to in any way organize your retainer so that you got a good idea of how many items you have. Then take a paper and write numbers down.
For instance here is a few methods I've used to "clean" my inventory and retainer:
1. Use ffxivdb or eorzapedia to see if the material is worth keeping for future crafts as convenience, then check market to see if I should sell it or throw away.
2. Organize by profession, such as skins in one part, ores/ingots in another part.
3. If you got many of an item (500+), you can keep like 400ish in retainer, and 100 in inventory, then whenever you are about to run out, you refill from retainer, and when retainer is about to run out, you refill from market.
There are many more methods of course.
Dude...you have a very weird idea about what dumbing down means. Do you think cars are dumbing dumb because people should have to walk everywhere they need to go? Dumbing down != removing asinine annoyances from the game.
Let me give you and example of dumbing down.
The current crafting system has a system of durability, progress, quality. Your ability to craft is affected by your stats (craftsmanship, control, CP, etc...) Then there is also the changing item condition that affects quality gains. You have to be very careful and use your skills wisely in order get the highest possible HQ chance.
An example of how this could be dumbed down would resemble the WoW crafting system. Gather the materials, hit craft button. Voila, there's your crafted item.
I know you're going to reply back about how I'm a casual who just isn't hardcore enough to understand how moving items around on my retainer is so very important and makes crafting fun...but I just thought I'd give my 2cp.

Surely, it would make the game more interesting by encouraging the player to weigh his options and think "hmmm, do I want to sell this item for more money by selling it to players and taking 2mn of my time answering captchas, or do I want to sell it instantly to the NPC for a fraction of what I could get?". Surely this is a brilliant game mechanic they should consider adding to the game, right? You do not introduce any new choice by introducing a captcha in the way you describe. We already have the choice between selling something quickly straight to the npc for low gil, and taking your time to sell it through market. I do however think that there needs to be far more punishment for reposting an item on market, to stop the silly 1 gil undercuts. Currently the time punishment is too small, which is why we are seeing a lot of those silly undercuts. A captcha could work there as a way to increase the punishment in form of time, but it is not the most elegant solution; I find redesigning the tax so that there is a posting fee at X % of the demanded gil is a far better way to punish reposters. That is however not a matter of "dumbing down", but a matter of making certain options more/less attractive; which is a balancing issue rather than "dumbing down" issue.
My analogy is sound. Choosing to craft an item for the sole purpose of making money already has a time management decision making built in. "Do I stop to buy/gather the items I need, then take the time to craft the item and put it on the market for a profit, or do I choose another money making strategy?".
Adding an unnecessary chore like tediously moving items in and out of your retainer does nothing to affect this decision making but simply increases the time needed to craft said item. In the same way than answering 13 CAPTCHAs to be able to sell an item on the market board would do nothing but add time to the decision making of selling something to a player rather than an NPC.
