FFXIV VS Guild war 2 voice overs

FFXIV has some great story teling in their voice overs but Guild Wars 2 has that also and every npc you walk by you can hear the conversations between other npc's or the conversation is directed at you.
I remember that SE said that they were going to be about 80-90% voice overed in the game. What happend to that? As of now their 20% voiced in the game and that's being generiuos. Come on SE step up and make the game it should be.

I agree that FFXIV's voice-over sections are fantastic. I love the choice of accents, possibly another throw-back to the themes of FFXII running through the game. It would be brilliant to see it used more in the future in the main story and side missions (important ones like class quests, job unlock quests).

I don't really like the choice of actors in GW2's voice-overs for a lot of it, they seem fairly stereotypical-american-fantasy-game style in a way. That said, the sheer volume of voice overs they seem to be including is brilliant.

Personally, honestly, moving forward there is no reason not to have EVERY story sequence voiced. We all pretty much play the same story sequence starting at about R20...there is no reason not to voice them. It makes for good storytelling, because half the time they aren't voiced I'm skimming through the chat long and hardly look up at the image.

I agree, if it was three seperate stories the whole way I'd understand the mix of text and voice, butpretty much from Rank 20 onwards voices would be great.

I like the MAGNITUDE of the voice-overs in Guild Wars 2 but the QUALITY is terrible (they all sound like voice actors from saturday morning cartoons aimed at 5 year olds!). I only wish FFXIV had more voice actors and in such abundane as Guild Wars 2. I love FFXIV's choice of funny english-accented people. Ha!

QFT. Just watching the gameplay trailers they have, I couldn't stand listening to the voice acting. Lots of voice over = cheap actors = bad voices. My honest opinion.

I'll take that. My honest opinion. :P

I agree though the quality of voice overs in FFXIV is nice but its nothing out of this world. The opening cutscene alone has that mi'qote in it and she sounds freakin retarded to be honest (and she looks retarded), even the elzen and the main character aren't voiced well. I do think the in game scenes are voiced well but if they're gonna advertise the game as "voice over"-ed this hardly qualifies. I'll take GW2's crappy VOs over nothing for your "less than amazing cut scenes" and give us the goodness that is FF voice overs for the HD cutscenes.

If only they removed all voice acting from FF games world would be a much better place to live.

Maybe that way XIII wouldn't have the santa barbara plotline and X would be an evergreen classic that it deserves to be.
