Honestly, no such thing as a "hardcore" game or a "casual" game when it comes to difficaulting. as someones hardcore= someones casual.

Casual and hardcore mostly mean time spent or how much into it you are.

A casual player tends to not play often, or who only plays the game lightly. Doesn't put to much into it and just plays for enjoyment.

A hardcore player tends to play the games longer due to free time, or those who dedicate themselves to a single game. Doing research, or working hard to be the best, getting the best stuff, being the first to beat things the fastest. They see the game as something more then a game. (can be in the same area as elistist)

I'm a mix of the two. I tend to dedicate myself to one game till I get bored, have beaten, did all I could for the time being. I tend to play the game lighting as I do not care for rewards all that much. I play to have fun. I try to be the best I can be, and not copy others style. Currently, I am on a mild break due to a family death.

Personally speaking i wish games went back to being time sinks sorta speak. I miss having to take mnths to play a gane before beating it. Now it takes me 2 days to a week. (soo not worth $6o) only games now that last me mths are fall out and Elder scrolls just because there is TOO MUCH one can do.

I'm a casual player with a slight FFXIV addiction, does that make me hardcore? And I read/post on forums while at work, secretly stealing my time back from the man

I'm a casual gamer!! I don't need all those hardcore details. I just want to play to have fun. Right? ね。
Stop making topics..this game isn't going hardcore only but its nice to have a compromise which you don't really see much from "casuals". Many of us are casual in that our play time isn't like it used to be - doesn't mean we don't want challenging content, which is all we're asking for. Jesus christ man gtfo of here and take a break a little, they're aren't changing that much, they are even going as far as keeping classes to keep solo content viable and if you enjoy leves I'm sure they're not going anywhere and will always be soloable.

this depends on what you classify as casual or hardcore.

if you think hardcore is having playing alot of hours in game then i am hardcore.

if you mean wanting to spend hours/days to wait for a single nm pop then no i am nowhere near hardcore.

if you mean getting in and researching thoroughly before i do something and willing to take the time to prepare properly then i am hardcore.

if you mean rushing to cap and having to have all the high level gear before anyone i am not hardcore.

if you mean make my time as productive as i can for the time i spend in game i am hardcore.

if you mean mean being elitest and not being social and rushing people to do anything i am not hardcore.

i have traits that belong to both classes of people, but that's because i play a game to have fun. i may spend alot of time in game, but do not care alot for most of the "hardcore" stereotypes.

    hardcore: adj.
    unswervingly committed; uncompromising; dedicated

It's not that hard to define...

I use to be for this game spending all day on this leveling up trying to get ahead at the start, but that was pointless now I log on every other day or week to do 1 leve (Dunes) then log out.
