LOL same in that it stood out a lot. That's why I used that as the example. I was basically thinking "Welp, there it is. The statement that people would twist to no ends." as I read that.

LOL at the secure part. I think the game has less security than a drive thru at mcdonalds.

Theme parks also have a handful of good attractions. If you ever notice a line at an amusement park. Some lines are hours long while other lines are maybe 5 minutes max.
So if that's what they're going for they need to bring up the level of a lot of the other "attractions".

Nope, sorry but just like in days of yore, now that the game is released, this is all we will get. Dont expect any support or upgrades or new content added. They have absolutely no plans to do any work on the game beyond flipping the switch for the release day. I'm glad so many people on the forums agree with me and think like i do!LOL at the secure part. I think the game has less security than a drive thru at mcdonalds.

Pretty good info. I think the direction of the game based on this discussion is one that will please me as well. He talked about being able to wear what you want based on your playstyle and I agree. He mentions that we should be able to do what is fun for us...isn't that what we all would like? I know I like this idea. Adding housing, gardening etc is a step in the direction of things I like to do most.
I'm happy to read this post from Yoshi and I stand corrected it's not a sandbox thus far but I still believe it has many elements of sandbox. I hope they update this for the current game as well.
Thanks for finding this.

I don't think Yoshi knew that themepark was a MMMORPG genere lol, and i don't see where he says "you're gonna have lineal gear progression, 2 endgame dungeons and everything will be instanced and open world useless".
And where are those "specialized stats" and gear customization by melding materia? meteria melding have caps, and even the jobs stats are caped, i can equip all the MND and dtermination i want and my PLD will still heal 200hp with cure, i can use str gear and mi DPS wont be really affected and the blocked damage will be 1% every 30 str poinst.
this is not a sanbox, not even themepark, right now, ARR is a hallway.
still good post, just critizing Yoshi and the devs.

you are welcome. I remember reading this way back and much of what the Dev team has said and done has stuck with me through the evolution of 1.0 launch to now. I think too many people make snap judgements based on what we have at this exact moment and, like my response above yours, think things will not improve. I want to build a list of all the other things Yoshi-P has said in his letters about his plans for ARR and make another post later on.Pretty good info. I need to find the other letter where he explains all the things he want to include in the game and how he knows it will be over a year before his vision for the base of the game is realized (let alone his plans beyond that.) If you were to ask Yoshi-P if this is where he wanted to be at the starting point for ARR he would tell you its not complete yet but he felt there was enough there to release then he could continue to develop it while people played.I don't think Yoshi knew that themepark was a MMMORPG genere lol, and i don't see where he says "you're gonna have lineal gear progression, 2 endgame dungeons and everything will be instanced and open world useless".

I laughed when he started talking about the multiple Gear sets.
By the time I'm done with the current content I'll have 4 sets for WAR Darksteel, Darklight, AF2 and Allagan.
Sorry Yoshi P, but... this for the most part has been a disaster. I'm speaking honestly here. Hardcore players do not want to be casual. Casual players do not want to be hardcore. To realize the ideal we have in place, we need a powerful matching system capable of connecting all of these players, whatever their rates of progression might be.
For this reason, people are ACTIVELY AVOIDING your "powerful matching" system to avoid conflict and enjoy playing the game as they want to.
Funnily enough the opposite has happened. Mission creep maybe? Crafted gear is harder to get than Darklight, to the point where people are buying gil to obtain it. This wasn't even true in 1.0, the success rate for multi melds was ridiculously low even for 3x melds and if you failed you lost everything. Melding is more casual now, but crafting is less casual, requiring more dungeon runs for a complete set of crafted gear, than for Darklight.Take materia, for example. When affixing the first materia to a piece of gear, the chance of success is 100%. There are seven gear slots in total that can hold materia (though this varies a bit between classes), which is enough for some serious buffing. This is the casual peak that anyone is assured to get to if they put in enough time.

@ZakarnRosewood
I have been researching and i'm well informed, i know about a lot of things he wants to implement, that's why i'm worried, i have never seen anything about useful open world content besides roaming primals, and the gear progression we have right now make me think we will never see customization and variety, still subbed and waitng, but we have been waiting sice 1.0, long time...

Well...we will see...If the housing, and future additions go well then it buys a few more months/years of gameplay at least for me. The game I'm really waiting for (Archeage) is not out yet anyway haha.
