Why are we unable to send private messages to other forum users?

Is it punishment? They've taken nothing away. It's a preventative measure. Maybe you don't read as many of the threads on here as I do. Most of them turn downright ugly very quickly, imagine if people could say things in a less public way. SE would need 5 times the number of forum mods just to keep up with banning people.

Reporting private messages would be the same thing as reporting threads... Once you report something it sends a brief description to a forum admin on which they can take appropriate action.

Hmm.. SE bans people on forums faster than in-game for gil selling. Somehow that is pretty amusing to me. Way to set your priorities there SE!
