its strange but darksteel ore is worth crap these days .. along with most materials .. cept the ones u get from philos .. and anyone at 50 can get those. if se wanted to fix gil issue just make items u find in the world worth more to npcs .. I mean u sell a lvl 45 robe u find in a dungy for 15gil ? but buying a lvl 45 robe from a vendor costs 5-9k? that's an obvious problem.. if they made items worth more more people would run more dungys therefore more people use DF and less wait time .. Boom fixed your welcome move on to real problems

SE's approach was very heavy handed here I feel. Maybe RMT did exploit some glitch which caused billions of Gil to be added to the economy unexpectedly but to then just do a blanket wipe of everyone who had accumulated more than 8 million Gil since launch was just wrong.

Luckily for myself I have yet to sell anything on the market wards so think that is why I escaped the wipe as all my Gil came from 1.0. Was anyone else in my situation and brought all there Gil over from 1.0 and not had it striped from them?

It's cheap because there's too many player that have miner at 50 now. DS ores were still selling for 10k on the market even when 4-5 players were selling them

I love how people with no concept of economics are posting strong counter-opinions about this

explain to me how it makes economic sense that at lvl 50 every time someone runs 1 dungy they lose gil every run.. how at lvl 50 u r forced into doing a job u don't like just to make gil its flawed and u know it .. by his logic on making money it relies on to many people constantly rerolling and new players in order to generate more player made gil.. someone who apparently claims to knows everything about economics doesn't factor in all gil ingame that a player creates its far to low.. that's why itens that u find or aquire ingame need to be worth more or the game is doomed in the long run . that's why ur ores are worthless now because there is not enough gil generated by players because everyone is practically 50 and not everyone wants to waste game time playing a botanist or a miner.

OP, this is a Japanese game that follows the Japanese way of thinking. Too many people simply expect this game to be run the way American games are run. It isn't going to happen because this is NOT an American game. Instead of wasting time with these pointless threads, spend some time reading up on Japanese culture. Once you have a better understanding of that, you will understand the reasoning behind your non-issue.

Yes, there are quite a few things about the game (and the way it is managed) that bug me at times. The reason I continue to play is because I understand why these things are the way they are. If my skin were too thin to deal with such things as the loss of non-existent currency (gil), I would simply move on.

I agree, fixitman. According to an article on MMORPG.com, there was somewhere in the vicinity of 360 billion Gil removed from the market. Think of that. Just...think of that number.

Now, if people want that much excess Gil gone, then SE has two real choices: an exhaustive, individual character-by-character investigation of each and every crafted item, crafted mat, gathered mat, and subcomponent ever sold in the market or in the /sh channels, /tells, and /yells since the launch of the game, numbering into what is likely to be thousands of man-hours...or they can make a blanket removal for the good of the game. The needs of the many and all that. While I do sympathize with anyone who lost truly fairly-earned gil (and there are -not- many of them imo, but I do certainly think there are some), I would hope they would think of the game first instead of the 'need' to have ridiculous amounts of money in the first week of the game. It can always be earned again, albeit at a slower rate.

What rock have you been under? RMT and bots are still flooding the game. This did nothing to stop them

Y'know, a similar situation happened on DCUO..

There was a glitch that occurred, allowing players to make billions of dollars. After that the prices at the auction house jumped up about 1mil % and the eco became garbage.

Money was now worthless, those of us who were used to having 100k-200k normally now had 350mil+ and that was just myself. I didn't exploit anything, just adjusted myself to the new sale prices of items.

Sony realized that this was a huge issue, fixed the glitch, and banned a LOT of players who used it to make themselves billions of dollars.

Then they started the removal of all this "fake" money, anyone who had over 100mil was reduced to that amount, (still far too much money if you ask me). I lost over 250mil dollars..

To this day DCs economy is still recovering. US PS3 has a vastly different Eco than EU, this all happened forever ago..

So, even though you the legit players were made to suffer, all I can say is it happens, it sucks, but it happens.
