I think vanity items are things like the pets, the Odin/Behemoth gear, the stuff the lightening FATE will drop, heat resistant gear, etc. Items and gear that look nice but don't have great stats so they aren't useful as dungeon running gear.
Everything in an MMO is vanity gear.
A Sandbox game, by design, is a game where the player is free to explore the world, create their own content, and impact the world around them. There is little to no set goals other than what the player makes for themselves. The content they create can be shared with the other players of the game and the impact they make on the world is felt and shared by all. The content creation, and ability to share it, are pretty much the defining feature of a Sandbox MMO.It is not FAR from being sandbox. Wrong. Sandbox games are games that offer more than just beating up monsters. You can have every profession, the crafting is very detailed and fun. There will be housing. There will be vanity. The characters are beautiful. There is a lot of story depth.
Where do you see this game not being sandbox? I don't think you know the definition of sandbox. Sorry try again.
There has only been a handful of truly Sandbox games. Ultima Online, Star Wars Galaxies (pre NGE era), The Repopulation, and to an extent EVE are most common examples.
Because this is a PVE game based around casuals. High end PVE is for a much smaller playerbase than all these fun universally accessable gimmicks.
These are event gears.
For me, vanity gear is everything that look good and cool and is more than 10 levels under me.
I won't make any assumption about your career or where you live, what I CAN make however, is judgement of your character and personality based on the posts you've made.
self-centered and entitled would probably be the most complimentary ones in that list, I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
No one is saying you can't have your own preference for types of content, but what you are asking for is to make YOUR preferred content to be the only ones in the game, everyone else be damned.

Isn't an MMO about immersion? The more of the little things they add the more "real" the world will feel.
Instead of that weekly run people end up doing at end game people will log in after doing that to play mini games with friends or do some pvp or collects pets or build/collect things for their own living space.
It adds to the feel of the world, while letting you add some of your personality to the space you take up.
Because housing items will give players bonuses on exp, etcStop wasting dev resources in "Player Housing" - Why should I care about a housing area that's just a deliberate attempt at adding more padding to time-consumption. That will have little to no effect to me. Seriously, they fleeced people already by saying "earn an Ahrman pet (that does nothing)" for 90days upfront. - Yeah you can wait but many people paid all upfront.
Game is fine, housing is fine, looking forward to it.
