Lol. If Monstrosity from XI was in XIV or even came in XI's prime I would sub just to play that, screw the rest of the game xD. For those that don't know, Monstrosity allows you to play as certain monsters for PvE and later PvP - basically an elaborate pet system. Most stuff for MMOs are mind boggling that they even spend time on development.
PvP? Always fails in games that use class systems.
Mini games? So I am supposed to start up Final Fantasy 14 to play tetris? To play pokemon? Just pointless.
If you ask me, all the time on a Final Fantasy should be spent on story driven content. Because everything else is probably available in a better version outside the game.
Real "action heroes" don't need no fancy pants graphics. To heck with even 8-bit!I'd like some insight as to who thought that we all "wet" ourselves in excitement over "cute" pets, mounts, and sunshades.
Stop wasting dev resources in "Player Housing" - Why should I care about a housing area that's just a deliberate attempt at adding more padding to time-consumption.
Please someone explain the reasoning behind all of this, and why it has started to become a big thing in all MMORPGs?
All that cute and fuzzy graphics is a waste of dev time. Back in my day...
Or maybe a lot of us LIKE this stuff?
You could always go back to Intellivision, or the Atari 2600. Or heck...
Text-based MUDs: to heck with ANY graphics!!!
Graphics are for wimps!
Best D&D session I ever ran, way back in the 1980s... players arrived at the dungeon only to see Orcs and Kobolds outside holding up picket signs. The local Dungeons Monsters 101 Union was on strike for poor working conditions, lack of medical benefits, poor life insurance, and backed up plumbing...
The party had to find the local 'dungeon master' and school him on worker's rights. :P
Oh and yeah... in the 1990s I played in one where the had to stop someone from collecting all the cute and fuzzy animals of the world...
No stereotyping there I guess?
I've been collecting mini-pets as long as they've been in these games. I love the housing and pets, as do MANY others. I'm in my 40s, came from an American inner city, military veteran... and have NO IDEA where your particular perception regarding cultures comes from...

Are graphic artists expected to troubleshoot server issues? A person hired specifically to design armor/housing/etc. doesnt take away from time spent fixing bugs/issues. Simply throwing more people at a problem won't fix it faster, infact with regards to coding its the opposite.guys will defend your vanity items tooth and nail, yet you will go into another thread, and say the responsiveness is killing the game, and that they need more instance servers, blah blah blah.
The OP is absolutely right. At this current time, the resources need to be focused elsewhere. Disagreeing is pure hypocrisy.
Actually, teams intertwine - so while you have people strictly on graphics, they'll more than likely be tied with the programming team as well as doing some programming themselves. They won't be tied with server crew that's true, but they have to work with them to know what they're designing won't kill it.Are graphic artists expected to troubleshoot server issues? I know what you were getting at but teams aren't working in isolation 100% of the time.
It's to piss off super serious guys like you who are dead inside and only want MOAR LOOTZI'd like some insight as to who thought that we all "wet" ourselves in excitement over "cute" pets, mounts, and sunshades.

That will have little to no effect to me. Seriously, they fleeced people already by saying "earn an Ahrman pet (that does nothing)" for 90days upfront. - Yeah you can wait but many people paid all upfront.
Why do people ride this horse? - I'd rather they invested this time into creating dark/complex looking Armour weapons.
MMO gamers gone soft? - Is this the norm for Japanese games to include full on vanity, or housing?. What is going on.
Please someone explain the reasoning behind all of this, and why it has started to become a big thing in all MMORPGs?
Nothing wrong with the representation of the games world in this form back in time.
However, the time of representing the world in 3D is normal. The point is, heroes aren't supposed to "fluff" around with 'cute' pets and housing. -
Vanity and cute items are catering to the Japanese high-school girl stereo-type.

Sorry but no, this game is FAR from being a Sandbox style MMO. It is very much a Theme-Park design though there are some minor elements of a Sandbox that are going to be introduced. There are plenty of other games without housing to play. This game is what they call "Sandbox." If you just want to kill things...maybe this isn't the game for you. Kind of an immature attitude to say we are 'girls' just because we enjoy doing things outside of die hard fighting...etc etc etc...
