I played for a month 2 mo.s ago and quit out of boredom after reaching r30
Is the game still that

Login-do-leves-for-an-hour-logout-login-again-after-two-days-game?

Boring-no-endgame monsters-and-items-that-takes-more-than-ten-players-to-beat?

Or it that holy-shit-this-game-is-amazing-i-wanna-live-inside-the-game type?

It still takes far too long to do most stuff, even though improvements have been made. It's not going to be fixed completely until SE realizes that having all interface communication require server communication is just terribad design.

There's more to do now with the addition of NMs, subquests, and guild tasks, but not enough to keep you occupied if you want to play for multiple hours every day.

They reduced party sizes and introduced NMs, so yes and no. The monsters themselves aren't terribly hard, and most can be handled with a light party (4 people) or less.

Unfortunately...not yet.

On topic:
If you love Final Fantasy and thank SE for what they've done so far and got nothing else you would play and would like to give it a real shot (R50) then...
I think shouldn't have stopped in the first place and should come back asap. (^_^)
As far as content goes. There's a lot to see and explore (Hidden Gorge, Little Ala'Mhigo, The reactors near Bluefog) and a lot to slay (earlier mentioned NM's and the R70+ mobs for kicks) also you could work on your gear to be (Ready!) when the dungeons and whatnot come.
