"Ranged tanking" in TOR was just melee tanking with a couple ranged attacks. You never actually range tanked as a VG or PT. The whole "ranged tank" construct that it used was purely a fallacy.

As I said before, if you have to be in melee, you're not a "ranged" tank. It would be like giving Tomahawk or Shield Lob a 30y range: you're not a "ranged tank"; you're a tank that happens to have a ranged attack, sometimes more than one. There's a substantial difference between the two. To be a ranged tank, you have to actually tank at range, not just have a few token ranged attacks.
