    stat point allotment

I'm wondering how I should allot my stat points. I'd like to be extremely versatile and balanced in everything. I'm not going to only level certain classes, I'm going to level everything. At the moment I'd just like to place points in everything entirely evenly, but I'm wondering how well that will work out. Any thoughts? I'm level 7 currently and I have like 30 stat points since I haven't placed them anywhere.

not a good idea... you should assign your point to attributes which match your class

You can re-assign points whenever you want so dont worry about making wrong choices.

I'd say focus more on vitality since it will be the most useful across all the classes. Then, depending on whether you're DoW or DoM put points into Strength or Mind, respectively. At the moment, Dex, piety, and Int are not as useful as they should be.

I'd follow this at least until the update comes and they change the formulas for all the stats. At that point its anyone's guess until someone comes out with more parsed data.

To be honest, nobody's absolutely sure what attributes do, other than Vitality (which gives more HP) and Mind (which gives more MP). So I'd consider giving them the more points to Vitality and Mind, and keeping everything else relatively balanced. People love to min-max characters, but from what I've heard, the game is geared towards a balanced approach to attributes anyway. And considering that there appear to be attribute caps at every level (for example, at rank 20, you don't appear to be get any benefit from putting more than 76 points in any single category -- link to Zam chart in the text), a balanced approach probably makes the most sense if you're going to play everything.

Something else to consider is that you can eventually use Guild Points to buy certain abilities that will make switching attribute points more easy. So a Guild NPC will sell you something that will allow you to switch 10 Intelligence points to 10 Strength points (or whatever).

(This may all change when the Battle system changes.)

Welcome to the game, and good luck!

I made a video on this a while back, it might help you out:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGNlv1cO8m4

After having looked at quite a few stat allocations of a wide array of players, it seems there are 2 allocation types:

    #1. Prime allocation.

Allocate your stat points perfectly for the class you play the most. Forget the others, that's the only class you play. Any other class you play you will play with the pre determined best stats for that 1 class you enjoy.

    #2. General allocation:
    Example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGNlv1cO8m4

You allocate your stats as an average. You allocate your points to best encompass all the classes you plan on playing. You use the stat point allocation skills to aid in swinging your stats toward the class you are currently playing and you minimize the number of reallocations to get yourself back to "baseline"

If you plan on playing many classes, use the general allocation method and spread your stats out.
If you plan on leveling 1 thing to 50. Max your stats for that class..

I suggest as a rule, keep your VIT as your highest stat.

    My current build:

    Strength 90
    Vitality 120
    Dexterity 50
    Intelligence 50
    Mind 114
    Piety 50

I mostly heal and tank. Sometimes DD.

You can see my average allocation reflects that.

@DoctorMog if you plan on just DOW you really dont need a lot mnd/int/pty if any at all. If you play with friends only/always then you can rely on them having others up. EG: I usually only play when my brother is on, he is DoW and im DoM so we focus on them.

There is no right or wrong way! and ofc itsall changing so blahhh !!

the above is a bad idea and will only give you head aches. Nor was how the system was suppose to work and partially why they changing it.

They are also going to remove physical level and you will get points on rank up.
What I do/did is at first balance my points out. Then after I get them balanced, I would put 1 point in each stats minus vit and int where I put 2 points since that is our hp/mp. And before anyone says anything I'm not nor was I gimped by doing this. Take a look at base stats in classes in ffxi some time. They are more or less even with each other.

    to add from lodestone :

    Attributes and Their Effects

STR*-*Increases damage dealt by physical attacks Increases damage prevented when blocking attacks with a shield

VIT*-*Reduces damage taken from physical attacks Increases maximum HP

DEX*-*Increases accuracy of physical attacks Increases chances of evading physical attacks Increases critical hit rate of physical attacks and resulting damage Increases parry rate for certain weapons

INT*-*Increases damage dealt by magic attacksMND*-*Reduces damage taken from magic attacks Increases maximum MP

PIE*-*Reduces chances of your magic attacks being resisted Increases your chance of resisting magic attacks of others

And from plsying these are pretty spot on. Just seem weak atm. Even in ffxi stats were sorta set up like this
