Stop Buying Titan Kills

These threads never fail to amuse. There always has been and always will be runs for money. And if you think about it as far as lore / story you hire a group of mercenaries to help you find that sacred artifact you've been looking for, because your average run of the mill troops are incompetent. Just deal with it. If you don't want to buy runs don't. If you do. Feel free. If you don't want to deal with pugs failing, join a free company that is willing to work with you, or better yet, get some friends to play.

Selling spots in group is tacky, the groups that do it are tacky, everyone knows it no one cares. I don't think it needs a PSA I'm pretty sure people who buy gil just to get invited to some cheesefest with people who think they are good at the game because they can beat titan with their set group are already ashamed of themselves.

Those that sell gil or the "privilege of playing with them" won't be persuaded by this thread, they don't care.

Just don't associate with assholes if you don't like assholes, it's very easy. This isn't FFXI were reputation will make or break you, there is enough people at endgame that these pricks can do perfectly fine without you, and you without them.

I suggest you focus on the people you can save, and be thankful that some people make it so clear to everyone what kind of players they are. Makes it a lot easier to avoid them.

Couldn't agree more, OP. Buying a win against Titan is just absurd. Hell, buying your way through any fight is ridiculous, really. I lose any respect I may have had for that person as a player and an individual for that matter.

I'm sorry, but it's just pathetic, honestly. I don't care if you can't "find a party" or whatever. You keep searching, you join a FC, a LS, continue looking through DF... SOMETHING. Admittedly, it took me a good 5+ hours or so before I finally found a group that was coordinated enough to kill him.

In the end, I still died during the last phase though because I was trying to help a member out of the rock and honestly wasn't paying attention to Titan, so I ate a landslide. Fortunately, the rest of the party still managed to finish him. Yeah, I was frustrated having to keep trying over and over again. I was also frustrated when having to wait for 20 minutes or so in DF only to have someone drop as soon as we began because we had two WHM or two SCH instead of WHM+SCH.

Still... Buying your way out of a tough situation isn't an answer. I loathe the people that take advantage of someone's weakness, capitalizes on it, and makes a profit because of it. It's even worse when someone is willing to pay for something like this... Supporting such a terrible thing. This is only encouraging people to continue this kind of behavior.

I know this will fall on deaf ears. I've brought out my soapbox countless times before when seeing people advertising to sell wins through Shout and it didn't do much good either. Regardless, I want to make it known that the people who do this are despicable beings and should feel ashamed for prostituting themselves.

What happened to the days when people would help another without wanting anything in return, but just for being nice? Now, it seems like people are always wanting to charge someone for something which can be easily done or carrying them through a dungeon/boss. It really seems like once you reach endgame, people are stepping on each other's toes, doing whatever it takes to get to the top.

Yeah, you buying that Titan win doesn't affect my experience at all. I can still play the game just as I always have, but that's not the point... You're giving the wrong impression to this player when you're selling them "skill". You're making them think, "Oh, I get it! So, whenever I get in a tough situation, rather than learning how to deal with it on my own... As long as I have enough money, I can get through it. Awesome!" They're no better off than these people who have bought characters and have no idea how to play them properly.

Just keep your gil and learn how to play the game. You can have as much gil as you can possibly hold, but at the end of the day... You can't buy the experience of defeating Titan with your own two hands. You also can't buy the feeling of knowing you got to the top of that mountain through your own blood, sweat, and tears. So, think about that before you go contributing to this distasteful behavior.

Pro's of not buying a titan kill:
You get to experience the challenge with others who also need it.
You save an amount of money you could easily make in a day.

Cons of not buying a titan kill:
You get paired with noobs which gives you a 7/8 chances for someone else to screw up your run, frustrate you and waste your time as well as any other skilled players in the group.
A lot of wasted time.

You also single yourself out as a friendless loser that no one decent would possibly be willing to play with without you paying them a large sum of gil.

Which is pretty pathetic.

What's the point? I guess if you are going to quit the game once you have your relic it doesn't bother you. Otherwise you need to make some friends anyways and be able to carry yourself through content.

I did Titan about 130 times getting me and my friends Relic.

We will be buying our Relics from here on because its very easy for us to get 500k but it's not easy to get a competent group of people, I don't have time to go through it again and I don't need to learn the fight anymores.

I'm just surprised that, with the work you've done for the community, people aren't bending over backwards to help you out whenever you ask for it. I know I would be if I were on Excal.

If they want to buy a weapon to skip the trouble of doing the fight themselves, they should damn well be able to and any of your arguing against it should mind your own respective businesses on the matter.

And no, I'm not going to buy my weapon when I get to the fight, I'm going to go about it with my FC. Not everyone buys gil in this game. Not everyone is a bad player. Not everyone has the time or patience at a losing fight, or hoping for the lucky duty. It's not hard to farm gil in this game, and no one should be faulted for buying in unless it's blatant RMT.
