Time wise, I'd say I'm moderate.

Attitude wise, I don't really consider myself either way. Like you, I just play to have fun.
I don't consider being really serious about a game fun. It doesn't mean I don't push myself. It's the difference between enjoying a sports game, and stressing out about winning it. At the same time, I don't want to let my teammates down.

You can't generalize whether MMORPGs are casual or not, it depends on what type of content there is and how long it takes to get it done. Guildleves are a perfect example of that. They provide lots of SP, and they only take a few minutes to complete.

I'm casual. I was somewhere between casual and hardcore when I played XI, but no longer have a lot of time to play, so like to make the most of it.

Casual for sure. See? No 50's yet.

That said, I do care about my gear/skillset and spend some time planning ahead for the future. But it's just my nature to plan ahead.

WoW became easymode when they introduced badge rewards in BC. Also allowing noobs to enter some dungeons/raids without even getting keyed first, when players pre-BC had to get keyed first. As why i quit WoW after playing a few months like 10 times(no sarcasm).

I'm very casual myself, and not because I dislike or can't stand being online or the such, I actually genuinely enjoy XIV and much look forward to its eventual destination. Though I'm not alone, I am the vocal minority. And, well, forums aren't a good place to scope for casual people, we aren't the ones racking up over 1k posts discussing the systems, becoming virtually notorious, and writing those online essays.

That being said, not sure the point of this thread, maybe just a casual gamer high-five? than back to work

^ Pretty much this. Also I mean while I like to maximize my use of time, I'm not rushing anywhere either. I'll get there eventually. I only hit 50 with one combat class so that I can more easily participate in future content that may be R50.

Time is not relative, just because something takes longer to do doesn't equate to it being hardcore. It just equates to...taking longer to do.

I could go in and hang around shouting at camp to leve link for an hour, then ask my guild buddies which spend an hr coming out and we want to do all 8 so takes about 3-4 hrs after teleporting, afking, slacking etc and in totaly i've spend 6ish hours just doing leves. Does that mean im more hardcore than the guy who logged in and solo'd all 8 in 1hour? Nope. Just means im a little more unfortunate.

anywho onto the question of the OP, im pretty casual now but by force due to University/Work piling up so I only play during update periods. (unless the update doesn't provide much and is mainly for fixes etc). I will however spend 2-3 hours on a NM killing it 60 times to get me a fking blue helm COME ON! =( lol but that doesn't make me hardcore.
