Party: Jyoeru: I cast sleep on non-tank targeted mobs. Please let them sleep. Thank you.
Only once has someone been a jerk about that notice. And he died a lot. Something about aggro all mobs, and I was like... if they are sleeping, who cares about aggro, fool.
If you're afraid of DPS spamming AoE or hitting a slept mob knock it back with Fluid Aura before you sleep it. That way you can clearly see who hits the mob when its 20 yalms away from the tank and can lay blame appropriately.
I healed Brayflox...first time was bad. Tank couldn't hold aggro, and lost half his health everytime something hit him.. talk about healing aggro. We even let the tank retry, like 6 times..cuz who knows maybe he was new? Since that time, it's been fine. Great tanks, some even had me bored.."can I heal yet?" lol..prolly just got lucky.
I like healing, even in bad situations cuz you learn from them. Best way to learn is to do it...and learn from every mistake u make. So..best way to heal better, is to keep healing.
Are there any reasons for Tanks to use AOEs? I have often heard this excuse used by a tank in Brayflox for waking up sleep adds, demanding that we not sleep "too slow", etc. As I don't play a tank, I don't know how they work (as far as whether any of the tank classes are AOE hate driven, etc.) I just wanted to know if this was legit or complete bs on the tank's part, because not CCing on a pull makes things much more difficult for the healer from Brayflox onward.
if /micon gives you the recast, i love you a good bit. Can't remember it exactly, but I think this is what I created
/micon Repose
/p Sleeping <t> (marked)
/mk off <t>
/mk ignore1 <t>
/ac Repose <t>
Had a run through Haukke Manor last night with tank and 1 DPS from FC and the other DPS filled from DF. The tank marked all enemies, had macros setup to party chat pulling (provoking, guarding, etc.), and I had macros for sleeping. It was a run of beauty. Extremely smooth and easy (like I would expect Haukke to be in the first place). The random DPS loved it (and actually asked about joining the FC after). I love groups like that where It Just Works as people do their role well.
if /mk off works the way you suggest, i REALLY FRIGGIN LOVE YOU.
this fixes sooooo many problems PS3 players have with marking. you have no idea.
PLDs only AoE via Flash, until much higher up.Are there any reasons for Tanks to use AOEs? WARs on the other hand use overpower.
They can cross class Flash, but its not very effective compared to Overpower.
In short, my suggestion is to wait 2-3 overpowers, before you sleep a mob.
In most cases, Fluid Aura a mob after the 1st Overpower, this way the tank is primary threat, then sleep it.
The WAR should be mixing in a flash every so often, to lighten up their TP consumption from overpower.
But they dont need to spam it, unless DPS suck. (Which is 90% of all duty finder DPS)

I think so, on the use of tank aoe. For getting aggro, or re-getting aggro if one or more mobs starts charging at the healer from overheals or something. I've seen tanks put mobs to sleep themselves, until the evil thaum tried an aoe and woke them up and the tank had to grab aggro so they didnt eat the mage. A quick aoe can save people, but I normally have a tank who marks the mobs in kill order so the dps know what to kill first etc.,or what number needs to be sleeped. Sometimes trash mobs are fine to aoe.
If a tank isnt communicating, marking mobs..losing alot of health when he/she shouldn't be, not holding aggro (and the aggro loss not being from overheals or power hungry dps)...they're prolly new, or just bad tanks. I have seen so much bad in groups over my years of healing. You chalk it up as experience, learn from it and sometimes leave the dungeon because it just isnt gonna happen.
My strategy is to conserve MP.
I cast Cure until Freecure procs then I use freecure Cure II. It gives you a second to pause because you know cure II is going to heal more and it's free at that. If Freecure is about to run out cast cure II. It costs you nothing and it saves you the MP you'd spend otherwise on a standard cure.
Brayflox is a tank issue dungeon. They go in undergeared and I've found that a lot of Black Mages absolutely refuse to sleep targets to cut back on damage when they're in the group.
/micon does show the recast, but doesnt show if the ability is in range sadly :c
/mk off <t> does turn the mark off, but doesnt turn it back on if u have another mark under it, even with a /wait in between :c
does anybody know how to make the mark show up, after turning it off?
(my PS3 friends never mark as tanks, due to the lack of buttons, and u cant put marks on abilities, otherwise the next time u press a button, the mark turns off.)

It's not the prettiest, but on my PC with an Xbox360 controller I can hit X, then select Marks, then select the mark I want pretty quickly. Might not be the best mid combat, but before a pull it's convenient enough./micon does show the recast, but doesnt show if the ability is in range sadly :c
