    Paladin - Anyone else want less cooldowns?

    Having a retarded amount of cooldowns to pop isn't good gameplay design, and so far there is nothing to make you feel like an actual Paladin.

    I think that they should add some sort of rotation choice that uses mana, and forces us to generate it back, but doing so having choices to make. Use mana of defenses, heals, buffs, or just aggro.

    TP funds core abilities, core abilities fund mana, and you have to make actual CHOICES in where you use your resources.

    I agree we feel more like regular run of the mill "knights" than paladins, the only moves that really makes me "feel" like a paladin are cover and hallowed ground.

    I'd be nice if we could use raise in combat, you'd have to hit hallowed ground to use it of course, but mid fight when threat is established, a hallowed ground/raise on a downed healer could totally save the group from a wipe.

    In large group AoE pulls when you need to spam flash you will also need to use your fast blade+riot blade to get the mp back to keep casting.

    First thing that happens when he goes from a Black Knight to Paladin is that he starts getting access to a who range of White Magic abilities. We have literally zero baseline White Magic abilities.

    We do have cure, even if it is useless. Cover has also been a flagship ability of paladins in the FF series. If we had more MATK on our swords, the increased cure might be enough to make use feel more paladiny. Or access to Medica. Adding that to our rotation would be a bit more fun than flash I think.

    This feels like a localization thing since the Japanese name for PLD's here is Knight. And we are much closer to the Knights in say FF3 than Cecil. Very traditional knight stuff with some low level white magic.

    Strongly disagree with this point.

    First there's not a "retarded amount of cooldowns to pop". The number of CDs PLD gets is very manageable.

    It seems that by "design" you're intended to alternate your CDs while tanking, saving the stronger CDs for more powerful incoming attacks. Turn 4 and 5 emphasize this very strongly (more so Turn 5).

    It's not bad design to give players a large toolkit and have them learn when to use their abilities. From what I've seen it actually makes the game slightly more interactive than what it otherwise could be.

    Twintania going to smash you in the face? Hit sentinel.

    The mana vs TP part of your post is just silly. If you play the class properly you will definitely run out of TP. Mana is there to help with TP management giving you the option to flash to conserve your TP a little. While it would be nice to have more resource management, I fail to see why this is an issue for you in the first place. You complained about having too many CDs to pop but now you want MORE choices for resources. If the multiple CDs (choices to make on what CDs to hit) is an issue with you, then I'm sure more choices for resource management will also become a problem for you.

    I'd love to see more choices for resource management but it doesn't feel like it's needed at this point. TP/mana management on a PLD is simple and well balanced. I don't think they want to over complicate things... I mean... you already have enough CDs to press right? :P

    As far as a PLD not feeling like a PLD, that's a bit subjective. However, I am inclined to agree considering the White Magic portion of the PLD toolkit is somewhat useless.

    EQ2 made this mistake when it came out. Gave tanks ultra short term irritating buffs. They eventually changed this for tanks due to the fact it just wasnt fun for tanks to keep them up.

    For FFXIV I too was irritated by the ultra short term buffs but after a while of playing I started to pretty much do things as Gangaloo explained. Only use them when you need them or when you feel like going the extra mile on trash. The only one i try to keep up constantly on trash is Fight or Flight.

    Not only do we have a stupid number of cooldowns but they seem to have stolen some of them from Warrior.
