    DoL Ward Skills Useless??

    So it came to my attention today that the Ward skills seem fairly useless at level 50. So long as you have 600+ GP these skills offer no real benefit over the +2 yield abilities. While leveling up they were somewhat useful to get more crystals but at level 50 I can't see any reason to use them over the +2 yield abilities. True, the Wards are 100 GP cheaper to use, but they do the same thing. But what are you going to use that extra GP on? With 600 GP you already have enough for the +15% gather putting you at 100% chance or very near. You can't HQ Clusters/Carbonized matter either obviously.

    Am I missing something? Or is the sole reason to use Wards over +2 yield just to save yourself 100GP wait time for the next node?

    So far, the only use for them that I've found is farming clusters. When I'm out farming clusters, I'm not usually sitting on botanist all the time (I do other things in between the spoiled node pops), so the ward ability saves me one minute of standing around waiting for GP regen.

    ...but yeah, overall they're pretty lackluster.

    Why not? It's not much, but its something. You don't wait, you just keep gathering and use the Ward again when it comes up. And the Ward will come up more often than King's Yield II would.

    I mean the 100 GP cheaper cost is nice, but it doesn't feel worth it enough to have 6 separate abilities for. It just seems like if that's the only purpose of Wards over King's Yield II/Blessed Harvest II then they should have just kept the latter and not even implemented Wards. I personally just don't feel like 100 GP makes much of a difference especially since node spawns are so far apart (time-wise). I mean if you're chain farming nodes that spawn at the same time then I suppose it saves u couple of mins but it's still kind of a lackluster advantage to warrant 6 whole other abilities. Just my two cents though.

    The Wards come along MUCH earlier than Kings Yield 2 does.

    Useless at 50? Maybe. But, you certainly could have gotten your mileage out of them before getting KY2!

    Wards are solely their for farming Shards/Crystal/Clusters, they're hardly worthless in that regard.

    Go ahead and use King's Yield II/Blessed Harvest II instead though, for every 1200GP you're using that three times, while I'm using Wards four times... Given the amount of time taken farming Shards/etc, that 100GP cheaper cost adds up very quickly.

    Huh? The Wards are 400 GP, KY1 is 400 GP, KY2 is 500 GP, according to my Actions page as a Miner.

    And I don't see any Traits to lower those. Unless there's a Trait that you get from the 35, 40, 45, or 50 class quests that I don't see yet, being a 34 Miner.
