If i'm still alive on this good earth...
I think I would have forgotten about this game by then.. The game world itself, however, would either be f2p or shutdown (going with the latter since most people in the community are adamant on square going that route) because the competition of high quality cross-platformed multiplayer games would have overrun the scene by then. Japan would pretty much be the critical lifeline for the game if the game were to survive that long.
My assumptions are based on the average twitch viewer count being lower than runescape 3 in its virgin/trial month.

In 5 years? A small but loyal playerbase. Lower level content will be completely baron, new players won't stick to the game because most of the content to que for will be completely empty, so they will either need friends to run them, or they won't complete them. Example being story fights like primals. Zones will be near empty since everyone that plays will already be max level on every job, or at least every job they intend to play. It is simply WAY too easy to level atm. Hardcore players should MAYBE be reaching max level right now imo. and I'm talking people who power level 8+ hours per day. Of course the level cap will be raised and more jobs added, but again, people will fly through all of that quickly because of the pace the game sets.

I love all the amateur Nostradamuses...
As to myself if you asked me were I was going to be in 5 years it was not most certainly not where I am now... 5 years is a long time and I have yet to see a prediction of the future be true. Least of all ones about video games (how many times have people predicted Nintendo was going to drop out of the home console market again)
Hmm, I believe the OP asked where do you "think" it will be. Which means there is room for personal opinion without having people make silly comments like you did. I could be wrong though.I love all the amateur Nostradamuses...

And yet most if the replies have been declarative rather than speculative... And my comment stands where I "think", you "think", wher Mr. Gooblotz "thinks" something will be in 5 years is so much farting in the wind.
Grinding a higher lvl dungeon repeatedly for the then-current welfare gear.
