For targeting purposes, the opponents should have different names.
Oh and "Fresh Meat" is a stupid name.
Yeah, Camate. I don't think people have a problem with the generic names so much as they think the generic name ought to be something less silly.
Don't get me wrong. I really like all the silliness that's been injected into the game by Fernehalwes and the localization team, but in this case it detracts from the experience.
I would like to be called "Fresh Geek" instead ok?

I'd prefer they name us like daoc, tbh, race + class. Like 'Midlander Dragoon', 'Lalafel White Mage'.
Knowing a persons name after the match doesn't help jack all. During the match is when you would want to see someones name so you can have an idea of how they are going to play against you. Exactly how are you supposed to troll somebody you are playing against exactly? If you see somebody who has dominated your team before, training them all match and shutting them down isn't trolling, it's smart play.Because having a leaderboard isn't counter to names not being shown during a PvP match.
During the beta test a scoreboard was shown at the end of the match which includes people's names and servers. The names are simply not shown DURING THE MATCH to prevent trollish behavior.
I still say that our Titles should be the name used. Make absolute perfect sense to use a title you gained in the game through achievements and put on your character to be used in such a way. Fresh Meat would be fine for those without titles (or those who don't wanna use them). Without a title, you really are still Fresh Meat afterall. ;p

Yes, titles are the best solution.
Because the epitome of social interaction is trash talking people.Wow, fresh meat? That is absolutely horrible, all the fun I had PVPing in vanilla WOW was due to the community aspect. I knew my enemies names, my allies names, I knew everyone, I knew who was good, I knew who was bad, I knew who acted like they were amazing and got stomped and we all took screenshots and posted on forums and talked trash and had a good time. We had a giant community of trash talking and competitiveness, It was so fun, not seeing anyone's name is complete garbage, I bet it's cross server too, right?
Pretty lame, the genre born on social interaction just gets more and more anti-social as time goes on.
Did you miss the part where the mods posted in this thread and confirmed that Fresh Meat is being deliberately put in even at release? Please read the thread before posting.
Fresh Meat is a huge problem and they need to fix it. Imagine when they roll out Grand Company frontlines. 32+ players. Fresh Meat all over the place, can you imagine?
