heals and tanks in fates are a bit of a cluster F*&k. I don't sprint from fate to fate but instead I choose to hit the ones already in the path questing takes me.
And from my experience in any boss style fate - Rarely will healers toss a cure on anyone taking damage unless grouped, but the opposite is also true - I have been punished by the game and players alike. Game says no dps = p!ss poor reward. (solo). but another issue is most players will completely ignore the fact I ( the healer who just saved your life) has a trash mob Or multiple trash mobs beating the crap outta me, even if the hate I got was from healing you!
this is a flaw in the game, and a player choice to abide by that flaw. I have been left dead more times than I care to count all because I healed to keep people alive, as I watch the whole pack of players take off to the next fate like a team of 6 year olds who follow a soccer ball all over the field. I return my home point, and continue on my way.

Hell, even if you're grouped it's rare to get heals. The Fate group I was in yesterday had TWO healers in it and I still had to rely on self-heals 90% of the time because they were too busy DPSing.
I blame other MMOs for the mindset in FATEs. People are out for themselves and only themselves. Ive been pretty vocal about FATE NM Fights having one shot mechanics so that if anything other than a tank class pulls aggro - They die and get No Reward. I personally believe that the amount of stupid generated by FATEs and the direct impact it has on people at level cap or on a second class in lower dungeons is disgusting. If you think this is harsh - You should have witnessed what happened in XI when you died and had to Homepoint it because nobody had a Raise III that wanted to come scrape you off the sidewalk.

Ironically, the fewer people there are at a FATE, the more likely I am to heal. If I run into a boss FATE where there's only a couple people desperately trying to plink it down, I'll make sure the main target lives while I do whatever else it is I'm doing. In a zerg FATE like Gorgi, with a hundred players and dozens of adds running around everywhere, I am far, far too busy keeping my own party alive, dodging AOE circles, and trying to make sure I drop some damage myself to also watch the health of Gorgi's current target if they are not in my party, who I assume is probably smart enough to have his own healer if he's deliberately main tanking a level 49 boss FATE.
To say nothing of the inherently high risk of getting a bronze if I spend the whole fight healing someone with whom I am not partied.
If it's any consolation, if I see any dead ppl after a Fate, I will *always* try to raise every single one of them. Sometimes others get to them before me, and sometimes they homepoint before I have a chance. I almost want to shout, "Just wait a sec!" (My raise macro has a /tell built in, so they know I am raising them)Personal rant but, would healers at least remember to heal in FATEs? I just tanked the named fate Go, Go, Gorgimera and got hit by one of his attacks half my health gone. I was on this half health for a good long period of the fight and not a single heal was thrown my way. Sure enough due to latency I got hit by another of his attacks and down I go, the train proceeds to finish the boss off and leave all the dead people behind. Oh and I got a silver, was there from the start and tanked him the whole time.
TLDR: Heal your tanks please? Not all of us are terrible like the ones you find in duty finder.
As for healing during the Fate's themselves, I do try to do this.I am a little worried sometimes though because, for example during the Cancer Fate at Costa Del Sol, if you heal ppl, you often get a ton of those adds chasing after you, and then in perfect symmetry to your not-being-healed issue; no one really seems to remember to pull them off me (which is fine, I guess), even if I am kiting them around for half a minute.
Anyway, I do try to heal in most Fate's if it's obvious there is one person tanking, or if someone's taken a huge hit. I have to say that accurate player targeting is not very easy in FF14. And when someone's running around like crazy it can be super hard to actually target them.

I, as WHM, always try to heal as many players I can, but being on PS3 i usually see 1/3, 1/4 of the people fighting Gorgimera.
But I really don't understand healers leaving without reviving fallen players after the fight O.O I was killed once by Gorgimera (I was lv43 and still didn't know how aggro works XD), I got oneshot, nobody raised me and everyone left. I had to return to Revenant's Toll and pay gil to teleport again. I mean, what the heck! I'm not asking to carry me, but at least if you see someone on the ground, and the fight's over, raise him! It just takes 7-8 seconds!
Hi all,
Just figured I'd put my two cents in. Although, I believe it would be nice if all healers just healed random people and nobody ever died during a FATE, I think it's pointless to point it out in a forum. May I suggest a /tell to every single healer that you meet and ask them to heal random people during FATEs. It'll be a long hard journey, but maybe you'll change the face of MMO's and we'll all live in HappyLand from then till the end of time.

Yes, this is simply and absolutely, right. This is... Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
FATEs are flawed by design if this is the mentality being espoused.
There is something wrong with the design behind FATEs and this is exactly it. The fact that healers aren't rewarded for doing their job is a flawed design and should be changed.
To think that the only way to contribute is to do damage is a flawed assumption. And counter to absolutely everything the rest of the game tries to teach the people who play it.
FATEs throw away everything you learn in dungeons. Everything you learn in Guildhests.
And yep, FATEs lower people's IQ.
I sincerely hope something is changed to encourage group play in FATEs.

Hold on calling healers lazy because we want the same reward tank is complaining about? This is what is wrong with this game. I do heal people during fates and am never in any parties, but I have to say that the communities attitudes toward greatness in this game are perpetuating the behavior being demonstrated in all aspects. half the time I am afraid to join parties for fear of being flamed. I just think healers are getting to the point where they are afraid to do anything in this game anymore.
