I've been deselecting English as a language option trying to avoid these douchebags. Started seeing them as early as Stone Vigil. lol. Kind of shooting themselves in the foot though. Want to go fast so bad they'll have to wait longer in the queue for a tank.![]()
FF cutscenes are epic. It's what it's all about. I was heart broken that I agreed to skip them with my first CM group, they declared speed run and I felt pressured to going along with it. I watched them in the inn and it's not the same. I finally beat Titan last night so now that's done I'm going to hit up CM with some FC friends and watch them.
Had an awesome group for Prae that was mostly first timers so watched those during the run. ^^
I prefer watching them live during the time when I am supposed to watch them if its my first time seeing it. It brings the storyline into the battle and it is something I look forward to. I will wait for anyone who wants to watch them. It is very unfair to chastise players for using the features of the game as they were intended to be used.
I would say the advantage is on the experienced speed runners to organize their run to avoid random Df encounters if they don't expect people to use the features their first time. Unlike the speedrunners who can anticipate that new players will be watching cutscenes thus prepare for it and avoid it, new players who do not read forums or happen to be unaware of speedruns, will have no idea that they will be grieved into not watching a cutscene that pops up as intended. At the very least its civil to be nice about it instead of berating people for being new.

Hai! I'm Vahl, in ur mmorpgs, sort'n my inventory and putt'n 2 many H's in my name since FFXI..FFXIV Inventory Tetris Champ
I really wish they'd add just a tiny "X out of 8 players wish to skip this cutscene" text on the corner during dungeon cutscenes like the first Guild Wars did. If one wants to watch it, -everyone- watches and you won't know who it was who wanted to watch that. Should someone want to start a witch hunt after that, it would just show how petty they are.
And I wholeheartedly agree with OP. I guess the XP gain in XIV ARR is just fast enough that it also brings more of the impatient people to max level who would otherwise grow discouraged/bored, thus leading to situations like these.
totally agree with the OP. I run a lot in DF and I run a lot of CM. Never had issues waiting for cut-sceners. I, myself, did watch cuts during my 1st run and nobody complained about it: after the run I thanked them so much for not complaining. Well, they would still go ahead and start killing mobs without me, but it was not a big issue for me at all actually.
End of the day, I have been always lucky to find nice people in DF, but understand how bad one could feel finding bad players.
No way I'm skipping any cutscenes. If the run is ruined I'll just requeue and continue leveling my miner or goldsmith while I wait.
I just hope 1st timers would not give a crap about peer pressure and just enjoy the game. If it fails or someone rage quits then you'll get another chance.
Don't let anyone ruin the game for you. Its your right to watch and ENJOY those cutscenes.
Please, speed runners, stop queuing up for CM/Prae when you need people.... let them enjoy their long queues and bad story.
It's ironic how I've never seen a thread like this made by someone running the dungeon for the first time.
I'm at the point where i need to do CM for the first time to continue the story, but i just haven't felt like doing it, as i'd like to watch the cutscenes on my first run, but don't wanna get all that verbal abuse, so i just started leveling my miner class instead. Thought about shouting for a CM party that are ok with watching cutscenes, but doubt i'd have any luck with that.
And while we're at it, i know LFG means looking for group, but what does LFM mean? Looking for members?
