Nobody that demands Relics for CM or Praetorium thinks they are needed. They demand them, cause it makes it faster and that's all people care about right now. They done it so many times...they want to cut the time invested to a minimum, hence demanding people to have Relics.

One thing you got extremely wrong though is...this has literally nothing to do with the hardcore community. My Fc is hardcore...and most of our FC reached Coil in a matter of 1 week after release...most of us had all 50s, many had their Relics back from 1.0...nobody in our FC ever thought of demanding Relics or whatever for Speedruns...

It's the "new players" that all come up with this shit. Just 2 weeks ago nobody ever bothered to shout for SRs with Relics as a pre-req...now you see them all over the place...the hardcore peolpe were SRing AK, CM and Praetorium weeks ago...not now...so don't generalize "hardcore" people with what you see there. The real hardcore people all have their FCs and run everything among their FC members...90% don't even bother shouting for anything. It's the new 50s that just got their first, or second relic done (maybe even paying for the Titan kill and I know what I'm talking about...my FC sells 6-10 Titan Runs a DAY...) that are now demanding this stuff...not the people who had their 50s and their relics done for 4 weeks...or did you see anyone shout for Relic AK, Praetorium Runs 3-4 weeks ago??? Cuase that's when the hardcore people started it. What you see now is not the hardcore people...it's the casuals and semi hardcore, who just got to that point in the game.

HAHAHAH - It's not the hardcores, it's the casual players.

Come on people, it's the A-Holes that pull this crap, lets cut to the chase.

The hardcore players were fully geared up two weeks ago and did it by running with their fc's. From playing other mmo's I have generally found that those who ask for these insane requirements are generally just bad players who actually think you need that level of gear to beat the place. More often then not they dont even meet their own requirements or they just barely do.

    This.

If you are a legitimately high-end or hardcore player -- or even a player with a discerning eye -- there is one thing you quickly realize: there are hardcore players, and then there are tryhard/posers.

Tryhards are the players that demand ridiculous overgearing to clear trivial content 10 seconds faster.

Hardcore players are the ones who can actually perceive skill, and are willing to run through Chimera-Titan in an hour to help gear you up. They realize that gear is nothing up front and is the easiest thing to improve if necessary. They realize that a player who's never done a fight before can still do well if they are good. They're willing to find good players.

I've found that FF14 seems to have way more tryhards than other MMOs. It's probably related to the whole FF11 and single-player-RPG history of the game.

If I join an FC or a group and they inspect gear and then filter immediately (unless the gear is really, really, really far off), I know they are bad. It's how it is.

    This^^^^^^^^^

The idiots shouting gear reqs and trying to pretend they are "leet" are idiots. If they were any good, they would be in a high end guild doing something fun.

The louder people yell, the stupider they are- it should be obvious- only a terrible player that wasn't bright would use gear as a measure of skill... because that is clearly what they rely on to convince others and themselves that they are "special".

Usually these people got carried somehow, then use their gear to try to exclude others (because lets face it.. the raid already has to carry them, it can't afford to carry even more people like them...)
