Blind FC invites are bad, mmmkay?

I realize that most of the people reading this would never think of sending a blind invite to another player. However, if you ever get the urge, please don't.

I get at least 4 blind FC invites every day. I used to cancel them, until one person decided to send me an invite to his FC every time I declined. Now I just let them rot in the corner.

I would never join an FC that didn't screen its players first. FCs that send out random invites end up with random people. Random people tend to behave in random ways.

    I prefer predictability.

    Thanks for reading.

I agree with you 100%! Before i joined my FC i was always getting random invites as well, i just declined or like you said let them rot. I dont join a guild/FC unless i know what they are about, thats why i looked around before i found one i liked.

I hate getting random invites to join a FC, I always just ignore the invite and just let the timer run out. So far I've only had one person actually send me a tell asking if I'd like to join.

Maybe they are trying to tell you something? Maybe the message is MMos are community games and you are not part of any community, please join on, this one or another one randomly because you don't want to be blindly invited. There is literally no reason not to join a free company since even it it's base level you are getting +5% xp from killing monsters just by begin in one. You complain that people are inviting you but you continue to behave in the same anti social idiom. So in short, I disagree as I think your priorities are messed up.

I accepted the first blind invite I got, and I love my FC.

There's not many of us at Endgame, but we have fun !

To the first part I say "That's fine if you want to play alone without a 5% xp buff. Not my idea of fun but to each their own."

To the second part I say, is this a proverb challenge? So I'll go with "The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step." "Look before you leap, but He who hesitates is lost."

In the end, my opinion is such that you are only hurting yourself by not becoming involved in a FC, any FC so join one. If you find a better one switch to that. That guy that sent you a blind invite is trying to do you a favor. Sometimes people have a hard time seeing beyond their self imposed bounds. Okay, I think I've encapsulated your condescending attitude and turned it to something positive, take care.

I like to take random invites from zerg FCs just to see what kind of drama they are going to stir up among themselves. Oh, and there is always drama, wonderful zerg guild drama.

I recently joined a random scrubby Zerg FC with a RL friend (to mooch their rank 5 buffs mostly, which were always worthless things like bonus companion xp anyway) and the "officers" and GM spent their time guilt tripping all the strangers they invited to the FC to give them gil for future guild housing.

They would randomly invite strangers to their FC then call them "greedy" and imply they are selfish is they didn't mail a few thousand gil to the GM for content that hasn't even been released. After they spent ten minutes harassing my friend for gil in tells and whining in FC chat about "greedy guildies" I told them a fool and his money are easily parted and that I play FFXIV to have fun and not get guilt tripped by strangers to give money to the GM of a zerg guild run by a 15 year old.

    I was dismissed.

That's weird. When I invite people they just continue to play and yea sometimes people talk with each other. I try to offer up instance runs when I feel like doing that and a few other guys do to but only if they feel like it. One time I did have a kid start to get disruptive in chat so I talked to him, he wouldn't stop so I dismissed him then talked to him privately. It kinda comes with the territory tho I suppose. If someone wants to be an officer I just make them officer because that's just one more person who can keep the buff going. Sometimes if someone answers too many questions for new people I make them an officer cause they really are already right? You say leach the 5% xp bonus I say, isn't that why we are all doing it? If they had problems socially that's too bad but most people are not like that.

    ...........Shenans!

If you were part of a FC, you wouldn't get invites. For new FCs starting out, blind invites is the best way to start the initial recruiting process. Believe it or not, there are a lot of players who will sit there and play and not even realize how or why to join a FC in the first place. The ice is broken for them when the FC message pops up and they suddenly are face with a new decision. If they join, and they discover that they like their new surroundings, then they will surely stay. The FC keeping its members has less to do with their strategy for inviting people, and more to do with the makeup of its members, and the dedication of its FC leader/creator. Your personality shows though your FC more than you might think. I think some social formalities we prize in our daily lives are due a waiver here in this community.

    Yours Truly,

    Leon Crusade.
