The definition of a billion changes from country to country, eg:
1,000,000,000,000 = 10^12 = 1 billion in the UK and most EU countries, likely used elsewhere in the world in former colonies.
1,000,000,000 = 10^9 = 1 billion in the USA and some other countries where American culture is the norm/popular.
