I really do hate the way the boat works. Far too much like FFXI but worse since we can't board it. Even if we do get to board it we probably won't be able to go up to the upper deck due to it not being there like in FFXI. In FFXI it was nothing but an invisible platform which the non-solid boat model positioned itself over.

Even if we got that fixed we still can't move off with the boat and instead have to endure those repetitive cutscenes of the boat moving off with npcs boarding that we never ever see on board. Then we zone into that area where we have to suffer 10-15 mins of having nothing to do on a boat that isn't even moving.

While I don't really want to refer to WoW I would rather like the boat to work in a similar way. At least then we'd feel the boat is actually moving and we are moving with it. We'd know the ferry dock fading away into the distance is because it's us moving away from it and not the other way around. And the same applies when we would approach our destination and see other players coming into view as they wait to board or run about doing stuff.

It was wrong for SE to copy FFXI's method since that was based on cutting corners technically due to PS2 limitations. Doing the exact same many years later when technology has improved just seems lazy really. Not only that but it doesn't showcase the Crystal Tools engine very well either.

SE need to fix this and come up with a more respectable transport system for the ferry because if they don't I know I'm going to be very disappointed when they finally release airships.
